- • Porters and doormen only came up if a tip was at hand; didn't stop their sidewalk conversations to acknowledge anyone not carrying bags. Not a "Good morning" from anybody. Even cleaners and people from back office seemed bitter or angry. Outrageous price for such unkind service, though it doesn't seem to stem from each individual but by how they are recruited and/or treated.

It was just the perfect stay .
Everything about The Newbury was absolutely lovely from the beautifully restored building, amazing reception, concierge, housekeeping teams who couldnt do enough to make your stay welcoming and perfect to the flowers and decor. The bar areas and Contessa are fabulous too. Highly recommended - mos especially for its location in Back Bay / Beacon Hill. The whole area is beautifully kept, clean, safe and full of life. We just loved it.
