Our stay at Taj Lake Palace was excellent. The staff really goes out of their way to take care of you and make you feel welcome. The property is a 280-year-old palace that is kept in impeccable condition. While it might feel a bit small on certain modern amenities compared to newly built hotels, the lake views, historic art, and quiet atmosphere make up for it completely. It is a great place to unwind, and a few days here left us feeling thoroughly relaxed. A big thank you to Sruthi at reception for the smooth welcome, and to Pramod, Surender, Alona, Gunwant, and Pradeep for their attentive hospitality and genuine care. Our kids had a great time at the pool and loved the boat rides—they became especially fond of Arun, our boat driver, who was wonderful with them. The evening cultural performance was also beautiful and a highlight of our stay. A special mention to Vijay Joshi and the housekeeping team for keeping everything spotless. Kudos to the entire team for running such a great property. We would love to return!

Disgusting service

My room shower had only lukewarm water. When I called about it, they sent a Hindi speaking technician; when I called again they sent an English translator who said "we have to turn on the heater which we turned off because it's summer and the other guests don't want hot water. It will take half an hour to heat up". I then expressed my dissatisfaction at waiting half an hour because it was 11pm and I had an early day the next day. When I checked out i expressed again my unhappiness and the assistant manager offered to try to make things right. I told her I needed 10 pieces of clothes dry cleaned and she did it complimentarily. However the dry cleaner damaged the mother of pearl buttons on a blouse and when I texted her about it, she chose not to reply me. I had to send an email to the hotel about it but she was the one who replied and not only did she NOT APOLOGISE, she insisted she was doing me a favour and that the hotel in fact DID have water that was "within their operating standards" (it was 40 degrees Celsius at best and all other hotels I had been to in India has water that goes up to 47 degrees; even the havelis). So not only did i pay for a "luxury stay" to shower without hot water, the dry cleaner also damaged my blouse and worst of all the hotel management thinks I should be grateful. Do yourself a favour and book any other hotel at all.

  • The hotel is rundown. Marble is broken in many places, no hot water, pitiful gym, dingy looking pool,... and staff who don't know the first thing about hospitality or professionalism.

  • The hotel is showing it's age and needs upkeep. Some of the service was lacking but we noted this and the hotel responded very positively. The TV channels are appalling.
