- • They gave away our rooms (which we had paid for, I hasten to add). Our flight was canceled. I immediately messaged via booking.com to tell them we would be arriving late. When we finally arrived with another group of exhausted tourists at about 03:00, they said that we had been a ‘no show.’ I showed them that I had contacted the property. They said I should have phoned (I don’t speak Portuguese, they don’t speak English) because people don’t check emails after hours. Eventually, they found a room for us and put another bed in it (we had paid for 2 rooms) but had run out of pillows. They initially suggested they could accommodate 3 of us and the fourth person would have to seek accommodation elsewhere. We were so exhausted that I told them I would sleep on the floor in the triple. We were grateful that they sorted it out, however it is my view that when I pay for a room, it’s mine to either occupy or not. They could have called us to see if we still planned to attend.

- • Bizarre how big the difference is between rooms. The first booking I had a fine room. The second time it was terrible. Sagging mattresses and very loud noise from the air conditioning outside my room. I turned off the air conditioning myself. I didn't sleep a wink. The staff should also appear a bit more cheerful.

- • I had an issue with the reservation. I contacted them more than three months in advance to request a date modification and they denied it, claiming that by booking with Booking and having a non-refundable policy, they would not make the modification. Other times, in the same circumstances, accommodations agreed and did not charge me. Here it wasn't even about not charging me, it was just about modifying a date (which I requested more than three months in advance) and they refused to do it. I am very dissatisfied with that!!!!!
