Comfortable, a little further from downtown than I expected, but easily walked
Breakfast was fine, though the berries were sometimes still frozen.

- • Would have loved a kettle in my room or on my floor. It was a long way to the kitchen
First and last time
The room was ok for lack of better.

- • There is on-site parking that cannot be booked. When we arrived, the parking lot was empty except for a car that was unable to drive. We wanted to park there but were told that all spaces were booked (?) - We had to find alternative parking in the city. The included dinner looks good in pictures but was not very appetizing. For the same reason, we skipped breakfast.
Pros: AMAZING FREE BREAKFAST!!! Eggs, bread, jam, peanut butter, honey, yogurt, juice, fruit. Stellar. Good location a short walk from the harbor and attractions. Also, it's literally a block away from a main bus stop! They have good size lockers.

- • Cons: First of all, it's the only hostel in Victoria, so I shouldn't complain too much, as I am grateful they exist. Victoria is wildly expensive, so you'll have to pay a lot to get just a little. Rooms rely on an antique old time key, and so most people always forget to lock the door after themselves, leaving the room exposed to theft. No soap, no shampoo, and $10 deposit for a towel. Only 3 bathrooms per floor, and the showers are combined with toilets so people can get really territorial when they have to go. No privacy curtains on the old bunk beds, not even on the bottom bed. Very small room so it's not easy climbing to the top bunk. Very old rooms, haven't been remodeled in decades. Also, it's very annoying to be charged $5 CAD if you want a bottom bunk. No common quieter areas to work. No wall sockets, but they have little extension cords sockets that are zip tied to the beds.
Disproportionate cost for a basic, slightly run-down hostel

Overpriced
The location was about a 20-minute walk from the FRS clipper ferry terminal.

- • Overpriced. The private room was very hot and stuffy, the fan in the room didn't help. The window was not able to be closed and there is a lot of street noise throughout the night. $10 deposit required for a towel, only returned in cash. Free breakfast and dinner are very basic. No frills, rundown.
