- • There was an unacceptable level of noise throughout the night: doors and windows being slammed, metal bathroom-bin lids being dropped, loud laughter, and the constant sound of shoes or heavy footsteps at 2.30 a.m and even later. The soundproofing was extremely poor — I could even hear the guest in the adjoining room using a hairdryer as though he were in my own room. On Sunday morning, I contacted the reception regarding the loud conversation coming from the adjoining room. The guests had been talking loudly since before 8.00 a.m., and I called the reception sometime between 8.00 and 9.00 a.m. Astonishingly, I was told that my tiredness from the previous day was affecting my perception of the noise, that the guests were merely having a normal conversation for that time of day, and that nothing could be done. This was a Sunday morning, when guests staying at a hotel should reasonably expect to be able to rest. At 11.00 a.m., the occupants of the adjoining room were still speaking loudly. The receptionist’s dismissive and entirely inappropriate response was simply unacceptable. Breakfasts were also disappointing, as several items were not replenished promptly. Furthermore, my blouse had been sent to the hotel’s laundry service, but it was not ready when I checked out. I therefore provided my cousin’s identification details and expressly authorised her to collect it on my behalf. Nevertheless, when she went to the hotel to collect it today, she was initially met with resistance and a refusal to hand it over because the hotel had apparently failed to record the information and authorisation I had provided on Sunday. Only after an unnecessary argument was my blouse finally returned. Overall, the extremely poor soundproofing, the dismissive attitude of the reception staff, the shortcomings at breakfast, and the mishandling of the laundry collection made this a highly disappointing stay. I will certainly not be returning to this hotel.

Excellent family stay
We really enjoyed our stay at Meliá Braga. The room was comfortable, the hotel was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. We really liked the pool and the facilities. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you very much for everything.

- • I didn't like the lighting being touch-sensitive. Terrible for those with poor eyesight. I didn't like the bathroom sink faucet; it's terrible, I got all wet when I opened the faucet
