- • AC in the room was not adequate- it was cooler in the hallways. Daily parking charge seemed excessive ($58 per night). Main restaurant was closed.
We will return!
The hotel is in a historic building, decorated with exquisite taste. An unbeatable location. In addition to a warm and friendly staff. Maria at the front desk, Debbie at the store (which has divine things!) and Luis at the restaurant, along with the rest of the team, do a great job. Charleston in general has a 10/10 hospitality, we had a divine 4 days! The beds are delicious, we slept incredibly after walking all day! And they also have a collaboration with Volvo that offers transportation in the city center, which is a nice extra!

The Dewberry: A Must-Stay in Charleston
From the moment we arrived until the time we checked out, our stay at the Dewberry was exceptional. Every member of the staff was genuinely warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful, making us feel like valued guests throughout our visit. Our room was beautifully appointed with thoughtful details and timeless elegance, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in—absolutely dreamy. Every aspect of the room reflected the luxury and attention to detail that make the Dewberry so special. Our evening at Citrus was the perfect way to end the day. The views were stunning, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the overall experience was unforgettable. It truly captures the charm and beauty of Charleston. We also stopped by the hotel shop to purchase the Dewberry's signature candles, and the shop manager was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, informative, and incredibly helpful, taking the time to share the story behind the candles and making the experience just as memorable as the rest of our stay. Although we only stayed for one night, we left wishing we had booked a longer visit. We can't wait to return and experience the Dewberry again and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Charleston.

How is this a high rated property?
Hands down one of the worst FHR properties we’ve stayed at. Policies make you pay to use credits. They don’t cover tax or gratuity. So my $60 breakfast credit cost me $4.65 to use on my $51 breakfast. Nothing personable about the day. Don’t expect them to know your name or to care. Rooftop restaurant is 21 and up. Their food is smaller than a quarter. I paid $22 for the ceviche tacos. I’d understand if they were dollar tacos. Nope- I received three that were each smaller than a half dollar. The rooms and decor are very outdated. It may have been fashionable in the 70s. Some valets are snarky. Only upsides are Noelle at the restaurant on the ground floor and the gentleman working the front desk. Never again. Stay at Hotel Bennett or Zero George.

Fantastic again!
This is the second time staying at the Dewberry. Both times our stay was fantastic. In my experience, often at luxury hotels you will find some staff not following the script, but not here. Everyone was perfect. Management has done well.

Outstanding service and care!
Everything at the Dewberry was amazing! The service, care and everything was top level! Kimberly and her staff were amazing help with food, things to do, and made the most of our stay! Sending the warm cookies, milk and Champagne the first night was one of our favorite things from the whole trip!

Lovely hotel in the heart of Charleston
Everything about my stay at the Dewberry was lovely. Friendly, accommodating staff. Beautifully appointed rooms. Comfortable beds. Central location that made it possible to walk everywhere. Fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies delivered to my room at 11pm. Would 10/10 stay here again.
