The room smelled of cigs so moved to another that was loud and had a broken toilet. Sort it out Travelodge

Avoid at all costs
xtremely disappointing and fell far below acceptable standards. The room was in a very poor condition. It was cold throughout my stay, with only a small heater provided that was completely insufficient to warm the space. Cleanliness was also a major issue—the room was dirty, and there was visible mould on the windows, which is both unpleasant and concerning from a health perspective. The bathroom was equally unacceptable, as it had clearly not been cleaned properly. In addition, the communal areas of the hotel had a strong, unpleasant smell, which made the overall environment uncomfortable. The furniture in the room was also in a state of disrepair, with broken or damaged items that should not have been left for guests to use. This added to the overall poor condition of the accommodation. What was most concerning was that the entire hotel, including both private rooms and shared spaces, felt consistently cold and unwelcoming. This made it impossible to relax or feel comfortable during my stay. Overall, the conditions were unacceptable, and I would not expect this level of service or cleanliness from any hotel.

Great stay at Travelodge Broadway Plaza Birmingham.
We stayed for two nights and had a fantastic experience. Early check-in was smooth thanks to Gokhan, who kindly arranged ground floor rooms close together for our group—really appreciated. The family rooms were clean and comfortable as always. Jacob on reception in the evening was brilliant with our kids—super friendly and made them feel welcome (they especially loved the free chilled water!). Location is spot on—loads to do right on the doorstep with bowling, cinema, mini golf, and plenty of food options nearby such as Subway, Dominos, I-Crave, Dixy Chicken. Parking underneath the hotel was easy and reasonably priced at £12 for 24 hours. What really stood out was the staff—friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. We’ve stayed at many Travelodges, and this one stands out because of the team. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

Good location to access the city. Good value. But that’s it
Overview would rate it tolerable. Pros just out-way the cons. Located on the Broadway Entertainment site room rate varies by night. Saturday night prices double and not worth £90. Price of Parking is not included but good value @ £12 for 24hrs. Location is good for access to Tram. Supermarket 5 minutes away. Brindley Place, canal & Broad St. 15 minutes walk. Hotel is tired and mostly used by business clients. Staff were pleasant. Paid WiFi was cumbersome to use and unreliable. In fact I ended up paying extra. When booking it appeared innovative to be able to choose your room. Until you had to pay extra for the pleasure. No thanks, surprise me.

Convenient location
As Travelodges go, this one has quite a lot going for it, in that the location is convenient for central Birmingham. There is also a car park in the plaza below - rare enough for a city centre hotel, and nevertheless a prerequisite for me. The rooms are the upgraded Travelodge style - which is nice and functional, but the drawback is that the TV is off to the side - with the bed facing a blank wall. Not good for your neck if you are watching TV for any length of time. Also, notably the bathroom is small, with a shower cubicle and no bath. This is only a minor niggle, but the downside of that is there is no shower screen, only a full-length shower curtain, open at the bottom, so that unless you tuck it into the shower tray itself, you will flood the bathroom. Very poorly thought out. Something which I found very disconcerting on arrival - and indeed throughout the evening - is that the lobby had been taken over by a big family with young kids, monopolising a big table with what was clearly take away food, making a mess and creating a lot of noise. The staff at reception were oblivious - hence they had probably allowed this. There was a bar-cafe just next to the reception desk, which was also very busy, so I assume this family had nowhere else to go. Not a very edifying sight for those checking into the hotel. Another thing to watch out for in this hotel is if your room overlooks the plaza - which mine did - you will be able to hear the conversations of anyone passing by. Despite the hotel being above the pedestrian precinct, the built-up area amplifies even the quietest conversations. Worse still, the walkway just outside the window is a convenient hang out for people to stop and chat. The windows are darkened from the outside, so they may not be aware just how close you are and that their conversation can be overheard. Happily, this did not go on too late into the night, so did not disturb my sleep.

Our experience at Travelodge
Came to Travelodge for a friends trip. The staff was very nice especially Ronald, he was the only one in the bar cafe but he managed to keep us satisfied and cook for us a lot of food. Great location a lot of shops around. The only thing, the rooms were quite dusty and the sheet was dirty but when we told the reception they changed it for us. Thank you

Horrible place to stay find somewhere else
We stayed in this hotel after a cricket game. We were happily on the balcony and I was watching a young mum with her children in the play area when I saw 3 youths in hoodies creeping towards her and her handbag which she wasn't watching. I shouted to warn her. Next thing I knew there were 20+ youths in hoodies running up the stairs attacking me and my husband. We gave a good account of ourselves but we were never going to win. Luckily we were saved by the hotel manager who hoiked us in the door. He then said he would let us have some food but after that we had to go to our room and stay there until the next day because there was a drug lord who lived in the hotel and they were his runners. Do not book this hotel
