You can stay in a room that is adjusted to your needs(Rooms-Congested),Neat/Clean, and it is only 5 minutes away from Viswanath Darshan, 3 minutes from Kashi Vishalakshi Temple, and 15 minutes from Nandi Chauraha. One needs to walk at least ten min to 15 min from Nandi Chauraha but once reached to the hotel you will not be disappointed. I visited two times to Kashi and stayed in ALKA itself. The food and the staff were good. I reserved a room that had a bathroom attached to it. Sometimes, they don't include a bathroom in the room, so you have to book an attached one or use the shared bathroom. You can see the Ganga aarti from far away, but it is not very clear. The best thing is to look at the Ganga Maa, who is the mother of the river, right below the hotel. You can also take a holy dip in the Ganga at the same place, but only when the water is not too high. Overall stay is quiet but prices can be reduced as it is very remote 15 min walk from main Chauraha.

Excellent restaurant experience by waiter ‘Jidu’
My wife and I were visiting Varanasi for a few days and looking for a vegetarian restaurant - we were suggested Hotel Alka by our guide. We were served by ‘Jidu’ who was professional and helpful from the very beginning, he spoke very well in English which naturally was a bonus - especially as we wanted to avoid meals with nuts in. Food was delicious - we had 2 plain daals, 1 cheese pulao, 1 cucumber salad, 2 lassies and 2 chai’s to finish. This all came to only 920 rupees (around £7.70). We were also able to get a table with a view of the River Gange. Jidu went above and beyond - especially on our 2nd occasion here, as I wasn’t feeling too well and he was there to provide assistance where we needed, without asking of him. Definitely recommended to visit 🙏🏼

- • I used a cheap room, so it can't be helped, but the toilet and shower are shared and dirty. No hot water comes out. It is difficult to approach the hotel.
Alka has a very nice place to stay, I found rooms are clean, also an elevator is available now there
