Lovely hotel, but way too noisy
The Thief is a stylish hotel in a great location on Oslo‘s waterfront. It’s right across from an art Museum honor small island connected by a short pedestrian bridge. It’s an easy walking distance of numerous restaurants in an attractive section of Ola. The reason I gave it only three stars is that many of the rooms, including hours, that faced the art museum also faced a somewhat narrow alley that led to several apartment buildings at the edge of the island. This alley was constantly noisy throughout the night with both love talking or even bellowing residence or visitors. Also constant were various trucks, including garbage trucks that rumble intermittently all night long. On top of that, would seem to be hotel workers on the alleyway were constantly pushing smaller garbage bins all over the place. The hotel had turned off our ability to use the room controls to activate, ventilation systems, so we had to open the sliding doors to our little balcony, a foot or so to let in fresh air. This meant that there was really no way that we could cut off the Street noise and still have fresh air. Everything about this hotel was lovely. The rooms were very nicely done in a modern and attractive manner and the breakfast was superb. The hotel staff were very pleasant and accommodating. However, since one of the purposes of a hotel is to provide a good nights sleep, I have to down rate this place to three stars because it was virtually impossible not to get woken Up 6 to 8 times each of the two nights we were here. That is beyond annoying. I’m not sure there’s anything in the hotel can do to alleviate this, so be sure you do not get a room facing the art museum.

A stunning hotel in a perfect loaction.
Everything about the hotel exudes quality. The location is perfect, close to town but quite. Being on an island the balcony room offered fabulous views of the waterways and boats. The staff were amazing. We were given a heads up on the wild day of constitution day celebrations, suggestions on where to visit and best of all blankets to keep warm on the roof top while having a few late beers. The room design and quailty is exceptional and the food at breakfast and dinner were perfect. Can't wait to return.

Best breakfast but choose the room time wisely
The breakfast is absolutely fantastic, that’s what made me stay in this hotel the second time. High quality dishes, great service during breakfast and decent coffee which is so rare even in luxurious hotels. Located in a beautiful neighborhood. Staff at the reception was helpful and friendly. Room service and cleaning were great.

- • I was absolutely disappointed with our room. Paying almost 500 eur a night (with breakfast), it was very unpleasant experience that I doubt I will repeat. First, our shower was constantly leaking into the toilet so we had to wipe floors every time we took a shower. Second, the AC is not working properly in this hotel (now I know it for the fact, as during my first stay I had the same issue). It was very cold on the room, but I could not increase the temperature even asking the reception twice and following all their advices nothing had improved. Third, the room was extremely dark as it was facing a tall office building. We were fully aware that we will not have a sea view in the Superior double room, but it came as a surprise that it will be no view at all but instead seeing people in the office 3 meters away from our room. I do think the rooms with this view should be cheaper, because it does not feel good at all. Forth, room had almost no amenities except for useless shaving kit - again smth you just don’t expect in the room for this price, adding basic amenities in the room would show hospitality and that you care.
Luxury location is the best. Hot towel rack in the bathroom really scored extra points.

Modern but Comfortable
Hardly been to trendy modern hotels and had really comfortable experiences. There is usually something wrong. Stain on those fashionable pillows, dust on shelves or uncomfortable bed and flooring. Food often tastes bland and not fresh. But... This hotel is exception! Modern and at the same time clean and comfortable. Very good experience with them. Food was amazing.
