We had a very enjoyable stay at the Pousada where the accommodation was superb. The breakfasts, however were very poor.
We liked the location and environment, the quiet, the traditional feel of the Pousada, the comfort of the room and the bed, the cleanliness, the balcony, the bathroom with its proper bath and basin, the hot water, the aircon and the helpful staff at the reception. The accommodation was excellent and very good value.

- • The breakfasts were very poor. The western hot food - boiled and fried eggs and the bacon for example had been cooked in advance and placed in hot containers and further heated, so that the food became hard and uneatable. My polite request to the kitchen staff for a fresh fried egg was refused. The coffee was often less than hot and not replaced. The fruit was sometimes finished and not replaced. The staff were seldom visible and made little effort to assist. In brief the breakfasts were little short of a disaster. This meant that we decided not to eat lunch or dinner there. Given its relative isolation, it is essential that the restaurant be improved and work effectively.

- • Staff need more professional training, regardless of the check-in process, catering service, etc. Besides that, the breakfast time was too late to be ready. We and other guests were waiting for breakfast setting in the restaurant.

- • At reception, it was difficult at times to communicate. I asked if they could help me get a taxi. They said we will see what we can do then I didn't hear from them again. Taxis really don't go to this area. The location is away from things to do. You can take the bus which is good once you figure it out. They would benefit a lot from maybe having a shuttle once a day to go to a casino to pick up and drop off.
