Excellent service - will definitely return

First time to Edinburgh for my boyfriends birthday. Staff went over and beyond to make our stay special . Thank you so much. I hoped to thank the manager in person but we had to leave for our train. Location is better in the old town where we were, more atmospheric. Premier room is what I expected, clean, tidy and all in working order.

Night at usher hall

Would highly recommend this hotel . Very clean and comfortable in a really good central location at a good price. We had a gig at usher hall so was perfect for us. Would definitely stay here again

Understaffed and chaotic breakfast service

The rooms would have a higher star rating - usual clean, comfortable Premier Inn rooms. Staff were also very welcoming and helpful. It is in a good location for the sights of Edinburgh. What let this hotel down was the chaotic, understaffed breakfast on two of our three mornings. Saturday was not too bad but someone had to be fetched from the dining room (by a guest) to deal with people at reception. On the Sunday, there was only one staff member who went to fetch a second when it got busy. However, we had to clear a table ourselves to use and there were no bowls, plates, mugs, cutlery, juice, yoghurt or fruit. We eventually waited 25 minutes for mugs as they had to be cleared from the tables and then washed. Queues of frustrated guests - and the two staff members rushed around valiantly trying to keep up with the requests. Monday was not much better although there were three staff and the tables had been cleared. We still had to wait for crockery and cutlery to be washed before they could bring more out and had to ask for yoghurt and fruit to be refilled. The dining room is small for the size of the hotel so gets very busy at popular times. The lack of crockery and food just slowed the whole process. Luckily we were not in a hurry. I would still stay here again due to its location but if you have a deadline, make sure you leave plenty of time for breakfast.

Worst Food uninterested staff

After a long busy day was too tired to venture back out so went to Thyme restaurant. Food was awful, cold but overcooked , a handful Of fries and a burger you could sole your shoe with. Tomato soup came out congealed with the croutons that had been sat in it so long the soup had all been soaked up. Flat cola. Was charged full amount by staff member who was completely uninterested and couldn’t care less. AVOID!

Good location - lukewarm breakfasts.

The Premier Inn Lauriston Place is the branch we usually stay in when visiting Edinburgh as it is nicely situated close to the Grassmarket. Check in was friendly and efficient and our fifth floor room spacious and comfortable. The only slight downside is that the shower is one of those step into the bath and try to avoid the wet plastic curtain variety. No doubt a modern shower will be installed in due course. In previous visits to this branch we don’t recall ever having a properly hot buffet breakfast, and would normally give it a miss. As free breakfasts were included in our rate however we had them - and here is a summary: Day 1: Much of the buffet was almost cold. We decided to forego the two dried up fried eggs left in a dish and asked for them to be replenished. This was done pretty quickly, but rather than the anticipated freshly fried eggs, these had rubbery whites and stone cold yolks and had obviously been cooked ages ago and left on a tray in the kitchen. Almost laughable - you could hardly make it up. Day 2: Much improved, partly because we both asked for soft poached eggs, which were perfectly cooked and very good, and the bacon etc was reasonably warm. Day 3: Generally lukewarm fare. The bottom line is that we like this hotel for the location, and the staff have been friendly and nice throughout, but I doubt that we would have the breakfast again.

Very Good

Reliably comfottable and friendly

Nice quiet room, comfortable beds as always, helpful staff, great breakfast. Close to the city centre but the atmosphere in the hotel is calm and pleasant.

Hotel overall was fair for the price!

Hotel overall was fair for the price. One staff member to cover check in and breakfast check in kept people waiting. All in breakfast states multiple choice of eggs, there was only fried! Now if you had to order them, they should've had a notice to say. My wife and I concluded, if we were to visit Edinburgh again, we would choose a more central location. the hotel was a good location for the National Museum.

Worst service ever - Nonexistent and couldn’t be bothered

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Check-in: The guy was barely audible and lacked any enthusiasm whatsoever so ever. 1 room ready @ 3pm and the other still not ready, yet on asking again it was, not sure what system he was looking at or at all. Breakfast: Both morning we cleared our own tables, collected our own cutlery and reminded the staff of all the items that had not been replenished (Water, juice, fruit, sausages, beans, etc). Every time we asked a question the response was ‘ask my colleagues’ so not sure who did what or if they even spoke to one another, an absolute joke to the extent they didn’t even seem bothered that so many others were also obviously unhappy with the service being provided. This is by far the worst hotel in which I’ve stayed and let’s just make something clear, I’m no snob and have stayed in many a Premier Inn and other hotels of various ratings, but this one really takes the biscuit when it comes to service or more importantly the lack of.

Good base

We stayed here as we had a Suzanne Vega Concert in the Usher Hall Edinburgh and this was nice and close as my mobility isn’t that great. It was a 7 minute walk which I could cope with. The room itself was really neat tidy and clean as I have come to expect from a premier inn. The facilities around about are good. Staff were very helpful and easy access to tea coffee milk etc etc. towels warm fluffy and bed as comfortable as ever. Please don’t ever change. Loved our visit to the capital . Only thing was when you take the card out by the door the heating goes off. The room was cold when we got back later on that evening. But that’s not a. Complaint that’s just an observation
