Great place to stay on Gili Trawangan island.
Excellent location. Kitchen available. Tasty breakfast. Polite and helpful staff. Thank you for the help Made and Din. Close to restaurants and cafes, shops, yet quiet and peaceful.

Pleasant, friendly team and cooked us great pancakes for breakfast. Small shared rooftop with bean bags and hammock.

Excellent hotelier on a really terrible island: DO NOT EVER COME HERE!!!!
This place is not on the seaside, but the island is so small that basically any location is fine. The room is a lovely wooden stilt house with the shower and toilet outside (the view is covered by a thick fence, but beware that only the shared showers have hot water while the shower annexed to the room has only cold water so I did not use it). There is no aircon, only a fan which is not needed at night as it is naturally chill. The receptionists are always there and the breakfast (which is included) was simple yet tasty. The main reason why I gave a high rate is the owner: he exemplifies how a good hotelier should be. He is actually Japanese and lives in Japan (he controls everything remotely with cameras, answers promptly via Booking.com message app and manages payments by card through Booking.com platform): many months before my arrival, he arranged my way to his hostel booking an affordable driver from Lombok airport and the very cheap public boat from Bangsal and then helped me finding a bigger “fast” ferry to Bali. The main part of the job in the tourist industry is to make tourists come to you instead of blaming someone for being on a small remote island. He made me feel very welcome as it should be.

- • The only problem of this hostel is that it is on Gili T, which is such a terrible island. Gili Trawangan is ugly with trashy night clubs, muddy and rough sea, filthy roads, drug dealers at every corner offering you any terrible poison, scammers everywhere, local people willing to make easy money without working and threatening you to extort money: it is very different from the rest of Indonesia. This hostel is a lovely wooden house, which will be surrounded by tall concrete buildings very soon: it was a construction site all around. I think that the fact that the owner is a foreigner is not a coincidence: looking at how fancy many hotels are on that island, I believe this is an example of real-estate bubble. Foreign investors bought basically for free this remote unattractive scarcely inhabited island (you can see on Gili Meno how Gili T looked like in the past) and brought the very worst trashy international tourism of people who only want to get wasted and have fun (these are those with which you can make easy money). I truly refrain everyone from coming to Gili: Indonesia certainly doesn’t lack beaches and there are way better places with more beautiful settings and hospitable and honest local people.
Recommended stay
The super relaxed atmosphere. It was clean, tidy and within walking/cycling distance of everything. Breakfast was great. Laundry service good and quick and an in-house drinkwater tap.

Peaceful stay with great people :)
Lovely detached bungalow room, nice garden and good location. Ten minutes walk from the beach, snorkel gear and bikes etc for hire, really lovely staff, sweet cats!
