Mariette was an amazing host. Everything was nice. If you are looking to have an incredible African experience, you should definitely stay at Joy River Backpackers. The village doesn't look like much, but don't be fooled by appearances. I recommend!

- • We enjoyed everything but go slowly on the dirt road to access it
Wonderful rustic hostel by the river
It was an excellent location just beside Burke's luck potholes. The rustic showers with water heated by a wood-burning stove were nice. The friendly dogs and cat were very welcoming to visitors, especially if you gave them treats!

Atmospheric accommodation at a very good price
The accommodation has a great, unique atmosphere. The owner is very kind and helpful, knows the area well, gave us excellent directions on how to get there and recommended an atmospheric restaurant nearby. Well located due to its proximity to the Panorama Route. Inside, there is plenty of equipment, we could even light a fire in the fireplace :D Great value for money.

- • It was really cold at night, luckily there were plenty of blankets available to solve the problem. There is no wifi on-site, but there is phone signal. The directions are quite complicated but fortunately the precise description allows you to reach the place without any problems :)
