- • I booked through Booking.com but also confirmed with the motel that it was definitely pet friendly. I received a written response in the prior week, from the motel, in the affirmative. When I checked in, I was advised that it wasn't pet friendly and showed them the confirmation message mentioned. The receptionist said it was ok to have the dogs and the 'old man' must have told us it was ok. The room was very basic, the toilet didn't flush properly and when we pulled the cover back from the bedsheets, it was covered in dirt, dust and grass. Ironic given I was told at check in that our dogs must not be on the beds otherwise the bedding would have to be cleaned and disinfected! We always travel with everything we need for our dogs as responsible owners so it was a moot point. My husband went to reception and we were moved to a 'better room'. It was bigger, the toilet worked and the bed was clean but there was mould and grime all around the shower/bath recess and between the side of the fridge and the cavity was snail or rat bait. I had to block off the section so my dogs couldn't access it. Glad we didn't have children with us! As a frequent traveller with well - trained dogs, I get tired of being treated like a pariah or as if my dogs are feral. If you don't want dogs at your property then don't advertise you are pet friendly but don't then put paying customers in a revolting room if their money is not valued and don't assume they are dirty because they have dogs.
