The team formed by Ahmed and his sailor of 10.

The day-to-day experience on a boat. Being able to stop at a beach, swim, and visit the village. The food is the best in all of Egypt. More feluccas and fewer cruises!!!

Incredible stay, the best part of the trip!

We traveled for several weeks in Egypt, the cruise on the Nile on the Felouke JJ Jamaica was by far the best moment of our trip. The crew, Ahmed and Walid, were lovely and took great care of us. The meals prepared were the best we tasted in this country. I advise against taking a cruise on a big noisy motorized tourist boat that pollutes a lot. The felucca cruise is much more typical and gentle, you travel with the wind, in the evening we observed the stars on the roof and swam in the Nile. The crew did their best to make our stay great, we are sad to have left them, it was truly a timeless experience that we can only recommend and hope to have the chance to relive. Go there with your eyes closed, the price is well worth it. The boat is beautiful and spacious, you sleep incredibly well, the stops allow you to visit temples and villages. Many thanks to Ahmed and Walid for this exceptional stay, your kindness will stay with us for a long time.

An unforgettable experience!

Walid was a brilliant, calm, and unflappable skipper while Ahmed was a great chef. We spent three days with them and loved every minute, we wish we could have stayed longer.

  • The toilet/shower was typical for a boat, but rather small by other standards.

A superb way to see the Nile intimately, to de-stress and shed the hectic pace of modern life!

Feluccas are the best way to travel on the Nile. It’s beautiful, peaceful, and genuinely fun in a way the big cruise ships can never match. We sailed with Captain Tarek and Chef Suliman, and they were a huge part of what made this experience unforgettable. Suliman somehow cooked incredible amounts of food in his tiny outdoor kitchen; rich, deeply flavored Egyptian dishes. At sundown, he even prepared a finely chopped fruit cocktail. On top of that, he also helped Captain Tarek with sailing and mooring. Since these elegant boats have no motors, everything depends on skill and experience, and it was lovely to see Tarek guiding and training Suliman so he can one day sail the Nile himself. We flew into Aswan late, after spending our first full day at Giza visiting the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. We stayed on Elephantine Island at Meshra Katto, a Nubian hotel recommended by Walid (the owner of Jamaica Felucca) since his place was fully booked. Meshra Katto was a great alternative. Beautiful setting, very quiet, a perfect breakfast on the balcony, and a short boat ride to where our felucca was waiting. Sailing out of the harbor alongside the enormous cruise ships was eye-opening. Sleeping at night was a little challenging. We each had mosquito-net tents (not many mosquitoes). We were warm and cosy. Perfectly fine for those who don’t mind sleeping outdoors. There was plenty of room on the shaded, comfortable main deck. If you want to sunbathe on the upper deck, it may be one of the best places in the world to watch life along the Nile…just remember to keep your head down, this is a sailing boat, and you’re constantly crossing back and forth across the river. What really makes this journey special is how close you get to both banks of the Nile. We saw buffalo, countless birds (kingfishers constantly diving), and the humble donkey. It’s slow, intimate travel at its finest. Day two began peacefully with a massive breakfast and a morning sail, but then we had to mo

  • My one point would be to encourage the Captain to give more context around the timings at the sites along the way. We overstayed at Kom Ombo, not realizing the effect this would have with the wind as well as the cruise ships. Net result was we were quite delayed on Day 2 and didn't manage to reach the intended mooring site. We would have been more 'disciplined' and punctual had we understood that context better.

Like a dream! The only way to travel peacefully on the Nile, at the pharaoh’s real pace.

Amazing experience, like a dream! It is not my first felucca trip, and I highly recommend Jamaica Felucca. Captain Tarek and cook Souleymane have been wonderful guides, always caring and kind. Tarek knows everything around the Nile and knows his ways with a lot of experience, Souleymane enchanted us with his meals. We were a group of 4 friends and we’ll remember this trip for the rest of our lives.

One of our best experiences! While the big cruise ships rush stinking and loud over the Nile, Tarekt and Suleiman sail with us relaxed over the water past beautiful places and nature. We were deliciously cooked for and could sleep peacefully under mosquito nets. Tarek sang to the drum in the evening. It doesn't get more authentic than this! Thank you very much! At least 2 nights are worth it. Further transport by car is no problem and is organized.

A unique experience

A magical experience, an adventure to live once in a lifetime. We are closest to the Nile, we feel it, we admire it day and night. The meals are divine and prepared on-site by Moado. What a feat to cook in such a confined space. We sleep on these huge mattresses or do everything else. A few stops for visits. Mohamed is always in a good mood at the helm. We will remember this for a long time!
