Just an ok hotel

Our welcome was very cold. The lady at the reception was busy organizing a box and did not even acknowledge our presence for a minute or two. and then a security staff said 'wait.' And after a few minutes someone just gave us the room keys. Room was very clean but they did not keep any towels and we had to ask for it. USB and other charging points were very close to the bed which was great. The hotel location in general doesn't seem to be safe. It's worth the price though.

3 star accommodation

Bayside is a great standard accommodation. Based on my own observation, I'll rate it a 3-star accommodation, reception staff very friendly, rooms that are clean will give it 7/10. Thank you.

Do not stay here

I'm not sure where to begin. It looked like a nice hotel, with lots of positive reviews (which I am sure aren't all authentic). Booked through an app, which thankfully ensured I was not charged because we walked out and found a different hotel to stay in because: - the neighborhood feels dangerous... groups of armed police officers walking up and down the sidewalks; - there is a massive xxx store right next door that has been cropped out of all photos of the hotel's facade; - front desk staff were unwelcoming, but did let us see the room first; - we walked up a corridor on the ground floor with peeling paint, half-done repairs, an open door (security issue here), and a strange smell; - room was so small the door banged into the bed when open; - we were told not to put our bags near the window and to keep curtains closed because there is an alley behind the hotel; - the window has neither locks nor bars; - we requested a room on a higher floor, were instead shown another ground floor room with an even larger unsecured window, again looking onto an alley. According to the hotel policy, canceling the reservation results in your card being charged. It honestly looks like a scam to me where we reserve because of nice photos and positive reviews, then they can still collect payment if you cancel. This hotel has a very similar name to a nicer-looking hotel further up the street. It is clear that it is a dangerous neighborhood, literally cordoned off (from the Waterfront area) after dark.
