Well located, but I would try other hotels for that price

The location is ideal. The concept and the hotel are very good.

  • There was a lot of noise, the rooms are not very comfortable, for example, in the restaurant area there was a coffee machine but it was not working...

  • Room way too small for 4 (supposedly a family suite) traveling with 2 young adults. Room supposedly suitable for 4. Bathroom tiny. Breakfast not tasty and very slow staff. Pool only has 3 sun loungers.

Convenient, charming hotel next to Zocalo

What a charming hotel right next to the Zocalo. Highly recommend. Convenient to all locations you'd want to see in Old Town Oaxaca. Staff was so accommodating. Arranging taxis for transportation to sites, guide service to Monte Alban, mezcal tastings, etc. Walking distance to Michelin-starred restaurants Los Danzantes and Levadura de Olla. Breakfast was included in room charge -- menu was simple and food was well prepared. Service was impeccable. Hotel was charming in its interior design that reminded me of a Moroccan riad that I stayed in once. Small lap pool on rooftop with food and bar service provided was a big plus when returning from a full day walking the city on a hot day! Only downside (why I knocked one star off my rating) was some aspects of the room. Was spacious but needed a real closet to keep things tidy and drawer space. Also, our room was painted black (others were white) which made it challenging to navigate in the middle of the night when going to the bathroom! Bathroom was pretty spacious and had large bottles of bath soap, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion, which was great.

Very Dissapointed

After a stressful not-moving traffic experience for more than an hour, just two blocks from this hotel in downtown Oaxaca, you’d expect to at least find someone waiting at the front desk to check you in. No one came for almost 15 minutes. Instead we were welcomed by the crazy loud noise of a jackhammer in front lifting the pavement. The street was closed to traffic, so the suitcases have to be rolled from the street beyond and after trying to find parking (btw, you’re on your own for that too). The rooms do not have a small refrigerator and they don’t have a TV. However, the hotel has a security camera system throughout with numerous screens so no matter where you are, they are watching you constantly. “Unforeseeable circumstances” as they referred to in an email the day before our arrival, like street work, is one thing but not specifying about the kind of noise by the jack-hammering right in front, dusty uneven terrain, not mentioning that the street entrance to access premises was closed to vehicles was just wrong. The hotel withheld information and by the time we were in, we were too hot, too tired, too frustrated and we didn’t want to be stuck in outside traffic again. They knew we were pretty much tapped. Not happy with this situation we’d have liked to change hotels but the car was finally parked, so we ask for a break in the price if we stayed, the manager pretty much said “No and ok with me if you go somewhere else, if you find something else…” After-the-fact apologies don’t count! 2 stars is being generous!

CAUTION RECOMMENDED

Centrally located, reasonably clean, and the staff is friendly. The entrance features a photo of a nude woman grabbing her genitalia, the “library” has a red light and a matted floor. That said, this hotel prioritizes style over basic comfort and safety. The property is very dark throughout, and stairwells lack proper lighting and handrails—problematic for anyone with mobility concerns, children, or anyone one mezcal too many. There is no elevator and the restaurant is on the third floor. Admittedly, I am 73, have had knee surgery, and rely on handrails, but I have traveled extensively and know what true luxury looks like. This is not it. Room safes are too small for a laptop, and the platform beds extend away from the bed creating a hazard in low light. May appeal to design-focused travelers, but not recommended for families, older guests, or those expecting a true luxury experience.
