Overall good but with some disappointing shortcomings.
This is a smart hotel within 2 minutes walk of Cardiff Central station, which is why I selected it in the first instance. My previous visit was in the days when it was called Sleeperz, and I had a very good experience. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and the manager Andrew dealt with my concerns in a very professional and friendly manner.

- • When I entered my room, there was a fan on the desk which surprised me as the room had air conditioning. It turned out that the air conditioning was malfunctioning, a problem which they must have known about prior to my visit. I was also disappointed with the breakfast offering. Apparently they are only allowed to have 2 proteins (so sausages and bacon) and limits on other items. So there were only scrambled eggs, no mushrooms, and no tomatoes. These limits are set by the parent company, and not by the hotel management themselves. The Continental offerings were just as poor. The quality of the food supplied was, however, very good.
Excellent, good comfy stay/sleep.
Location is perfect to train station & Cardiff centre. Clean, lovely room, shower big, bed real comfy. Staff friendly and very efficient.

A pleasant night stay in Cardiff.
I would normally expect the price of the room to increase dramatically towards the end of the week, but I was pleasantly surprised that my one night on a Thursday was relatively cheap at £58. The hotel is very well positioned close to Cardiff centre and very close to Cardiff Central train station and the bus station. On arrival I found the bathroom sliding door had come off its bottom runner, also the room door was not locking when I left the room. I mentioned these things to the reception and they informed me that they would be rectified immediately. I went for a short stroll and meal in town and when I returned the bathroom door was repaired. I was not sure if the room door lock was still not working properly so I used the safety catch overnight. I checked out early at about 0900hrs and I expressed my gratitude for the bathroom door being repaired but the room door was still not locking when I left the room, ie I could open the door without using the key card. This being a security issue and an inconvenience I was offered breakfast free of charge which I accepted. Huge TV in the room which swivelled towards the bed so lying in bed watching a film in the darkness was like being in a cinema. I watched "Heat".

- • More beggars in Cardiff than before. A very bright street lamp outside the room window overlooking the street and not even the thick curtain could blot out the light completely as I couldn't pull it closed enough, although this did not disturb my sleep.
