89 Hotel

The breakfast was terrible, some food were finished at 9.15am, milk was not top up until we asked and not cold for cereal. Traditional kueh were finished too at 9.15am even though bf was till 10am. Last year bf was great but not this time so will not book again.

Location was good. 20mins drive from Batam Center Ferry Terminal and 5-10mins walk to Grand Batam Mall, 15-20 mins walk to BCS Mall. There are many eateries around. The room was spacious and clean. Though the furniture is a bit old, they are functional. The negative point is the bath tub. The design is not good as the water from either the shower head or the waterfall head will have some of the water onto the bathroom floor. The drainage of the bathtub is also super slow, ie draining a bath tub full of water will take at least 15mins. The service was good. Room cleaning was prompt. Breakfast was relatively good for the price. It was buffet style with the usual egg station.

Comfort, good location with walking distance.

Old and outdated. We have put in request eg non smoking room but was not being fulfill. The only good point is that it is within walking distant to Grand Mall.

Not recommended

Booked 2 days but decided to cut short my stay. The carpets were sticky n there were stains on the bedsheets and pillows. Couldn’t sleep as the rain hitting on the windows were super loud.

Dont stay here if u are non smoker. I have stated my request non smoking room when booked delux room. However the room was upgraded to junior suite SMOKING room. The smell was unbearable. I checked with them next day why i was givien a smoking room. They claimed that the room has already cleaned up before letting me to stay. Dont ever stay in this hotel again

One night in Batam

Stayed for 1 night over the CNY holiday. The room has no proper wardrobe. When I asked for the iron & ironing board during my check-in, they said they will look inito it. After dinner when asked again, they said the guest still haven't returned it; and was asked to check again the nx day @ 7am. When I called several times housekeeping & reception at 7am, there were no answers. Finally, someone picked up at abt 8am. Few minutes later, they sent to my room, iron & a bedsheet! So they do not have ironing borad?? During our breakfast, there was power trip a couple of times. Despite the hiccups, it was an okay stay for 1 night.

Good hotel but slightly costly

Stay was quite good overall. Place is relatively new and clean. Only thing that was not good was the shower. It has a fixed shower head at a height and the hot water does not worked well. Free shuttle services are for premium rooms and above.

Love that it is located between two popular malls (Grand Batam, BCS), and a huge variety of coffee shops and eateries. Beautiful place, passionate staff, overall a very satisfying experience.

When check in only 2 rooms are ready. The third room is ready in evening, compared is much smaller than other 2.

89 Hotel literally sits in the middle of local food places, including roadside hawkers, casual restaurants, and bigger (open air) food courts. Despite its location next to a not-very-clean canal, there is no pesky scent (unless you stand in front of it). Walking distance to Grand Batam Mall, BCS Mall, a convenience store, I enjoyed the easy access to roadside seafood options the best. There is also a pretty decent rooftop bar at Vanilla Hotel next to 89. There is not too many cons that really affected my stay. You have the occasional cigarette smell in room, non-carpeted floor in room (which is a good deterrent from a dusty environment), which is all about it. The in-house gym, spa, gender-separated jacuzzi are great facilities to check out. E-hailing taxis is not a problem, both to and from the hotel. Food are generally cheaper, and even yummier at the roadside stalls.

Great Hotel Stay

2nd time I stayed in this property. Good staff attitude, from the front office, restaurant and housekeeping and security staff. Always attentive and always meet my expectation eg. simple request for towel change was done within 10mins. After just one sit-in in the restaurant for coffee, the staff seems to recognize the hotel guests and greets. They even joked with the guests. These simple qulities are nice soft skills that even some bigger hotels staff do not practice. The property overall has a nice welcoming ambience, clean rooms and food is average but acceptable. Value for money.

This is probably our 4th time choosing 89 hotel. Still the best in its own class. Shopping, market, local food and produce all within short walking distance. The new shopping mall, Grand Mall Batam is 5mins away. Traffic is busy and be careful when crossing over to the mall Good spread of breakfast with wonderful restaurant crew. Plenty of massage parlor to choose.

Hygienic Issue

No room service at all even I call for house service and it a bad trip for me

We booked a deluxe room. Given a room close to the lift lobby, windowless with an extremely noisy air con, in addition to the noise from outside that kept both of us up at night. It like staying in a construction site prison cell. Morning breakfast served mainly local food. Limited choices for bread and fruits. Unlikely i will come back again.

The hotel is clean n comfortable. Near to BCS shopping, around 10 minutes walk away. The water pressure is consistent and strong. The main issues of this hotel is the water has smell. Maybe they did not use a water purifier. There is no shower curtain and the water splashes everywhere in the bathroom.

Property was good and we liked the breakfast. But should not work for money. Passion is greatest.

GOOD: - I stayed with my family over the CNY period. Even though it was a busy period, the service was still good :) Housekeeping was prompt to our requst, Checkin/Checkout did not take a long time. The hotel staff even came around the rooms on the 1st day of CNY to give us a pair of oranges!:) - The hotel is very near the A2 Food Court and BCS Mall (<10 mins walk). There is a free shuttle service to the mall at 5 specified times per day also (i think it is 1200, 1330, 1500, 1700 & 1900). The shuttle is a one way trip. Otherwise, the hotel's cab would be Rp 25,000. - The room was really clean! The floor was spotlessly clean! Things to improve: - As mentioned by other travellers, there is no shower curtain in the bathroom. There is a partition that covers only 1/2 the bathtub & hence water would still splash out when you bathe. - There is no aircon/ventilation in the lift but the smell of the air freshener in the lift was very strong.. which might be choking to some. - There is no in-room safe in the VIP Gold Room, even though the website had said so. Instead, you'll have to deposit you items with the receptionist. There are about 30 safeboxes. Each safe requires 2 keys to open (1 Master Key held by Hotel and 1 Key that you would have to keep). You'll put your items inside a covered box that would then be kept inside the safe. The hotel staff were professional.. they do not open the covered box when they retrieve it for you, and you need to sign in and out on a form.

Family trip

The water heater was not working so well. Sometimes its cold and hot. Turning the pipe does not make a diff. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was nice but topping up was kind of slow.

Clean room, nice staff, delicious foods, highly recommended hotel. But only one thing uncomfortable is the music from the exercise room too noisy since the morning until the night at the 5th floor.

Hotel has a nice location which is easily accessible to places of interest I have by walking. It was a smooth and pleasant experience for both checking in and checking out, staffs were all friendly and nice. Facilities wise are well-maintained with care. I went for the deluxe room, the only 2 bad points I have for the room is that it was a bit too big with less furniture in it, making the room look very empty and due to the big space, the TV was located a bit far from the bed in my opinion. And lastly, all the rooms i presume doesn't have a security safe, the key safe is located in the lobby inside the counter which I find it a bit inconvenient to store and retrieve my stuff at my own convenience.

This is my 3rd stay in batam and likes this place with polite staff, near mall and convenient.

Good location for the price. Did not use much of your hotel facilities as we only stayed for 1 nite. Will stay again when we come over to Batam next time. Thanks.

It was a good stay

Location: Short distance to Penuin day market, 6min walk BCS mall, A2 night hawker Center and many nice massages houses. Room: Spacious, clean, comfortable bed, good hot shower and cooling aircon & Fast WiFi connection. Facility: Gym, steam, sauna and jacuzzi. Breakfast: Much better than other similar class hotels around the area. Staff: Efficient, friendly and accommodative for early check in and late check out. Overall: Very satisfactory. Overall stay is ok

Location n cleanliness is fine but requested for two single bed but only can get double bed even I book in advance one week. Toile bathtubs Tao came off while showering halfway. Breakfast was nice compare to other hotel.

Been to hotel few times and the service still same as before.Not all hotel provide free shutter service but 89 do and the place want me to come again due to Convenient of place to get foods at late night and just walking Distant to BCS mall

Budget Hotel with No Complaints.

Checking in was a breeze but checking out takes a longer wait although I don utilise the Titbits or drinks in the room. Room was very huge as I booked a Suite at 8th Floor. From the main door, there is a small Living Room with Tv and a small pantry with sink. The Toilet is there too. To go into the room, you have to open another door and go in which is quite big and has another Tv too but the Air Con is not powerful to circulate the whole room. The Air Con is Cool but the horsepower is not enough to cool the whole place. Suggest the Management can change the Air Con. As for location wise, there is not much stalls around for food nor massage palours. I found a few Durian Stalls opposite our hotel and also found a stall selling Satay which is not our normal satay we have eaten in Singapore. The Gravy is a special one. Must try to know how it taste. Next to this hotel is the Vanilla Hotel. BCS Mall is about 10 Mins walk from our hotel where eateries, Massage Palours and shopping is aplenty. Overall, if you need a quiet night, this can be your budget hotel. Breakfast is so so as I was expecting their famous Nasi Lemak (Malay Coconut Rice) but there is not. The Mee Rebus is also not very nice and needs improvement. Overall, I would rate it a 6/10 stay at this hotel.

Hotel OK for the price. Mattress solf,could feel the spring coil in the mattress! Reception asked for Rp 300k deposit for room which was on the high side. Bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste unless. Need to pay if you use the hotel's! Small pricelist stuck dicreatly near top of mirror. Won't see it unless you are tall!

On the whole a pleasant stay

Stayed in Deluxe room. Spacious & comfortable with strong air-con. Room service staff very friendly. Noticed breakfast was served with more food on weekend than on a weekday. About 10mins walk to foodcourts and market. Need to be careful of vehicles when walking out and also look out for the big drain out on the road outside the hotel.

Before booking this hotel we heard many Singaporeans have stayed at this hotel and they said it's good. We reached Batam early Sunday morning and did not checked into hotel yet as check-in is at 2pm. After loitering around to waste time we finally checked into hotel at around 2.30pm but to our frustration only 2 standard rooms are available. The other 2 family rooms still in process of cleaning. When we tell them our frustration the recep just looked as if it's not their fault at all and make a face at us. Lousy service at the recep, 2 other rooms are only available after like 1 and 2 hours separately. Standard room is rather small. The bathtub is rusty and toilet sink got choked on the 1st day of stay.

Week end stay

Location was good and near to wet market. also a walking distance to BCS mall which is a shopping mall with lots of variety. The room rates was quite reasonable. There's free shuttle service but not much choices, due to the few timing allocated. Pricing for services like massage and Karaoke is not listed. Due to language barriers, we can't understands the rates. So miss out on it. Its however quite a nice and pleasant hotel stay.

Improvement

We have been staying this hotel in the past 6 years plu , this hotel is super good , with good staff good communication good teamwork. But recently when we went back , it’s so messy , no communication, information not accurate , some staff worst not as friendly as the past , what we request was not fulfilled after they had double chop confirm with us no problem. The staff should have more communication. After booking , we had call the management to requested for a connection room and same level . In the end all sperated out, information given by the staffs around all different. We do not know who we should listern to . The management should do something with it otherwise they will be losing their regular customer like us

Smoking & limited wifi

Request for Non-smoke room but the floor level had a mixture of smoke and non-smoke rooms. The room (Non-Smoke) that I stayed smell of smoke and also along the corridor. Limited access to wifi (for the 3rd person even it stated 4), had to go to Font Desk counter every time we returned to the hotel to have it activate.

89 Hotel - 3D2N Stay

This is the first time in my life to have a wardrobe without a door in a hotel room. It's just an open cabinet, with 3 separate partition. Fridge at the bottom, kettle at the centre and a place for you to hang your clothes at the top. So, if you're short like me, you're going to have a problem hanging your clothes! I supposed it is because the room is small. There's also a small-round table and a single chair in the room. We wanted to order room service, but with just a single chair, it's just not possible. Brought this matter up to the receptionist, and they loan us another chair. Their website mentioned about shuttle service to the mall but be aware as it's only a 1-way service. Also, if you didn't book directly with them, there is no pick-up service from the ferry terminal. Honestly, I feel this hotel should be classified as a 3-star hotel instead. The staff however, are very friendly. And the location of the hotel is good as it is near BCS mall, foodcourt and market. To conclude.....I guess I get what I paid for.....

Disappointed!!!

Bad management - early online booking for queen bed & non-smoking room, but they told us non-smoking room were full on that day and offered us smoking room which is very smelly. Gym equipment is too old. The shuttle bus is only available three times per day instead of hourly.

Amazing Service and Breakfast

If I return to Batam I would stay here again; for the price this was a 4 star experience. Check-in was quick and efficient. I checked in an hour early with no problems. A staff member showed me to my room. The 2 elevators are fast. Welcome drink coupons are provided at check-in. The lobby is spacious and beautiful! The hotel provides a daily free shuttle to two major shopping areas. There is not much to do in this area, so the hotel is a nice place for relaxing. There is a jacuzzi and gym. The double bed and bathroom are comfortable and modern. Lighting controls are everywhere; the drapes block out sunlight. Slippers, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb and shower cap are provided. There are several English movie channels. I had to call a repairman to fix one of the channels; he came right up and had the problem resolved in less than 5 minutes. Breakfast is a smorgasbord of hot and cold dishes, fruit and beverages. Room service is affordable and delivers fresh food in a reasonable time. Some of the staff do not speak fluent English, but they can locate someone who can very quickly in order to serve efficiently.

Bad Experience

First of all, booking through Expedia with option : 1. Pay Now but can not cancel later > more cheaper 2. Pay Later but can cancel at later > more expensive Choose option 2 for 05 rooms, but later credit card statement arrived and stated payment done. Called up Expedia,but were told not deducted yet, but in fact my statement said done. Reached hotel at 1300hrs, told payment all collected (as i said earlier), only one room are ready, the rest had to wait till 1500hrs. Earlier booking time already requested for queen bed and smoking room, ended up with twin single bed and non smoking room. Staff not bother to explain at all. Few times staying here, same story. End of this hotel for me.

A very nice and affordable hotel.

Hotel staffs were very friendly and helpful. I had a pleasant stay although it was only for one night.The only downside was the drain facing rooms, it had an unpleasant smell to bear.
