Great location and great value for money!
6 bed female dorm was ideal for my 4 night stay. Storage space under the bottom bunk plus a locker space which are both lockable with your own padlock. Large suitcases would need to be stored against the wall. Bunk bed was reasonably comfortable and spacious with a block-out sliding curtain. Shared kitchen space was great, just be mindful of peak meal times as it can get rather busy! Plenty of crockery and utensils. Bathrooms and cubicles are reasonably sized but shower walls could do with a decent scour scrub. As my stay was in June the heating definitely worked through the hallways and was kept toasty warm - heating in rooms was more gradual but sufficient. Parking tip: on-street-parking outside of Haka house Rotorua in the 'Pink Zone' is $4 per day paid via PrestoPark app. Free parking Mon-Fri 5pm-9am, Free parking Sundays and Public holidays, paid parking 9am-12pm Saturdays. I was able to park my car directly outside of the hostel and could see if from inside downstairs - it was safe. Alternatively, there is parking at the rear of the hostel for $15 per day. You can check the app for the different parking zones throughout the CBD for their rates as you move around the city but it is easily walkable throughout the CBD, with a 15 min walk to the nearest PaknSave supermarket.

- • Shower walls could do with a decent scour scrub and tables could be wiped down regularly (or have it written so that once you've finished eating in the dinning hall to make sure you wipe down your table and/or bench space ready for someone else to use).
Location is perfect, personal is very friendly and lobby is very spacious...Definitely recommend to backpackers! 🫶

- • Bathroom was pretty grubby and small. Single gurgled when used for atleast minutes after and toilet constantly sounded like it was filling.
Decent for just a night stay but a nightmare for a good quiet sleep
