Not as good as it used to be
A change of ownership here. The revamp has seen the previous king size beds replaced by a double, so there is a gap between the bed and the existing bedside tables. The new beds are harder and lower than previous, - less comfortable. Heating is just a fan affair in the ceiling of the room, nothing in the bathroom, takes ages to heat the room. Decor is generally fine and the shower is excellent. Access to the rooms requires a code to be input into the door keypad, tedious and tricky in low light corridor conditions. Beware that if driving you will incur an additional £10 per night car park charge, - surely it should be included in the room rate? Breakfast was generally OK.

A great location hotel
The Duxford is a great hotel to break up the journey from London Stansted to home if your more than a few hours away. Check in was easy and the room was already set up for three adults. Breakfast was very nice, simple but with plenty of choice.

Customer service is an alien concept
Absolutely atrocious service that seems to involve simply ignoring customers. Who you can contact from Holiday Inn Express to complain is a closely guarded secret and any attempt to contact the hotel directly with a complaint is totally ignored. Their approach is take your money and run. I will never stay at another Holiday Inn Express in my life.

Stay at the Duxford Hotel Cambridge South
Firstly in terms of location it’s perfect for visiting Duxford, nice welcome when I checked in to the hotel, room was fine, bed and pillows unfortunately were rock solid, in terms of noise you either get the train track or the road, I am aware that they are refurbishing the hotel but I would recommend bringing ear plugs as the windows don’t drown the noise out, my friends had a road view and that’s all they heard, breakfast was fine, the only discouragement for me was the tomato’s and hash browns being left without a lid with flys buzzing about. If you are staying for the night it’s fine enough to sleep in.

Staff are attentive and do a good job of listening to their customers. Excellent transportation with the neighboring station for Cambridge, London and Stansted airport. Trains do create some noise but not an issue unless the windows are open. Food and drink options at the hotel are good, and the next door pub has additional choices.

OK Stay
My son and I stayed here as we have before. It is no longer a Holiday Inn - now The Duxford Hotel. Parking is £10pn. For some reason I was given a disabled room on the 3rd Floor above the railway line. The door lock didn’t work and I couldn’t use the heating as it sounded like a tractor! I asked to move rooms but the hotel was full. With the window closed the railway noise wasn’t a problem. Apparently they’re about to refurb the 3rd floor, so that should be better. Breakfast was ok.

A pretty average hotel stay
Room was clean and well laid out, but beds were not that comfortable. Breakfast offered a good selection. Looks like some sort of work is being carried out in/around the hotel at the moment, so a good portion of the carpark is being used for the portacabins and work area.
