Breakfast should be from 7.00 till 9.00, but at 8.00 a restaurant worker said us that a breakfast is finished and we must go out . We asked : why and received answer : because boss said that ! A few guests even didn't eat nothing . Is not prima aprilis joke .

Very cool old building right off the main square. Staff were very nice. Breakfast was in a grand old hall. I like places with history and character and this place had them.

Great location but old hotel. The cleaning could be better. Breakfast was not so good.

The overall impression was good because the shower was not quite clean, otherwise clean, slept well and friendly staff. Therefore recommended for people who like such a style.

Once and never again - Such pity of all potential!
The location of Hotel Tisza is nearly perfect, close to the Szeged city centre. Its outside appearance is majestic and when entering the reception area, you get your first glimpse of 'eroded glory'... The young receptionist was very busy on the phone and did not even greet us with a polite nod. As if we did not exist... Also after his telephone conversation, there was no smile, no welcome gesture... 'Stiff upper lip' to the third power! We got our key and went to our room. Beautiful corridors and hallways... wow! Then we opened our room's door... OMG what a drag, we were thrown back some 50 years into a run-down ancient hotel room! A small room with outdated pre-historic furniture (see picture). An ancient air conditioner built into the window (see picture), with a filthy air filter and too low capacity. The a/c could not be set properly, one had to climb on a chair and that would still be too far fetched for the average Hungarian. The pre-historic bathroom had paint coming off the wall. The toilet's flusher had a broken button and also a waste pump, that was activated every time the toilet was flushed. We could also hear the toilet pump of the neighbours above us. We asked for a different room. The receptionist needed his supervisor's permission for that and was asked (by his supervisor) to check the validity of our claims. he went to our room with us and inspected it. We did get a different room, but this was not much better... Before we went to bed, I saw a cockroach crawling from underneath the bathroom's waste bin that I had moved, looking for shelter. I told my wife only next morning... The receptionist told us, that the hallways and corridors were recently renovated; I added that they had forgotten the rooms... Breakfast was in the nicely decorated (and renovated) 'mirror room', although the buffet's logistics was erratic and there was no butter nor margarine... When checking out, the young receptionist was again busy on his telephone and did not notice us. We left our key and even did not bother to say 'bye' to him. The Szeged Tizsa hotel in just two words: NEVER AGAIN!

The hotel is old style and traditional with a beautiful staircase, traditional fixtures and an elegant and beautiful ballroom. Unfortunately it is not a disability friendly hotel. The step up into the bathroom is very steep. The lift was also located up stairs and a long walk. The hotel is very popular with Hungarians.
