A lovely respite from the busyness of a tourist hub.
The location is excellent - close enough to walk to most main attractions but slightly off the main path so it was quiet.

A quiet, relaxing ryokan , with good size rooms right in the heart of beautiful Gion.
There was a very generous breakfast supplied for a supplement of about 3000 Yen per person involving both a hand lit small steamer and BBQ at the table allowing you to poach and grill various fish, meat and veg products. All very nice, but quite a lot to eat. We opted for the buffet on day three, but would recommend the cook-your-own breakfast if you've got a long day ahead. Adrian behind the desk is a super friendly Frenchman from Calais who is very happy to help with anything. We also had the bonus of a private Japanese bath in our room. Our rooms were spacious.

- • One small blip -- my daughter found some rubbish under her bed. Otherwise the standards of hygiene were very high.

👎 Disliked
- • Limited space for putting clothes away (but this is not unusual in Japan)
The room was spacious with its own private bath.

- • For the amount of money spent per night I at least expected a daily turn up service in the room.
