Hotel spartano ma per il costo và benissimo così. La camera era spaziosa e calda. Il signor Marco ché ci ha preparato la colazione e' stato di una gentilezza e simpatia unica.

It was a really nice stay with good value for the price
It is in a really central position, really close to the bus station that goes to the airport. We had a nice elegant room, it looked like a palace room with a dome ceiling. Nice design and comfortable, and the price is really affordable, and there was a breakfast included. Also the staff was super friendly and helpful in giving advice about catania and the surroundings.

Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet – es war alles da, was man für einen angenehmen Aufenthalt braucht. Die Lage ist perfekt: Alle wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten im Zentrum sind bequem zu Fuß erreichbar. Besonders positiv ist das freundliche und hilfsbereite Management vor Ort aufgefallen. Ich habe mich sehr wohlgefühlt!

Esperienza deludente ma buona posizione
Purtroppo confermo alcune osservazioni già lette in altre recensioni. Al mio arrivo ho chiesto chiarimenti sulla richiesta di lasciare i dati della carta di credito al check-in, esprimendo qualche perplessità, soprattutto quando mi è stato proposto di inviare una foto della carta tramite WhatsApp - modalità che personalmente non trovo molto sicura. Purtroppo ho ricevuto risposte sgarbate e un atteggiamento piuttosto maleducato, che ha reso l’esperienza meno piacevole del previsto. Alla fine, il check-in è stato completato in presenza, e la carta è stata fotografata con il telefono del personale. Anche se l’intenzione era probabilmente quella di velocizzare la procedura, avrei preferito modalità più formali e rassicuranti. La camera era spaziosa, ma all’ingresso si avvertiva un odore sgradevole, simile a quello delle fogne. In compenso, l’hotel è in una posizione ottima, comoda per spostarsi. Infine, ho contattato il servizio clienti Expedia, che mi ha confermato che quell’hotel può richiedere una carta o un deposito cauzionale al check-in (di cui non si sa l’importo). È comunque lecito porre domande in modo educato e aspettarsi lo stesso tipo di risposta. Un plauso invece al servizio clienti Expedia che è stato molto disponibile, rapido, cortese, risolutivo e professionale.

The location is absolutely perfect. You can reach the hotel directly from the airport by taking the Alibus to the Bellini stop, which is right in front of the property. The place was spotlessly clean and wonderful throughout our entire stay. It’s within walking distance of all the major sights in the city. A special thank you to our hosts, Domenico and Marco – they were incredibly kind and always ready to help with anything we needed. I highly recommend this place!

Salve, Siamo arrivati e il ragazzo della struttura ha preso i documenti e in più ha voluto i dati della nostra carta, andiamo in camera e sommersi dai dubbi dato che mai nessuno ha preso i dati così privati, sono tornata da lui chiedendo spiegazioni, dato che con dei dati così privati si possono anche fare acquisti extra (cosa che anche lui mi ha confermato) ma mi ha detto che questa cosa la facevano per tutelarsi dai danni, con tutta l’esperienza che ho nel settore e viaggiando spesso ho evidenziato che era per noi la prima volta che qualcuno prendesse queste informazioni private poiché c’è EXPEDIA che tutela sia loro che noi, quindi ho chiesto di cancellare questo dato sensibile e lui ci ha detto che o sottostavamo a questa loro folle regola o potevamo andare (scortesia!, non si può dire così, cosa potevamo fare prendere le cose e dormire sotto i ponti? Comunque troviamo l’alternativa del pagamento caparra in contanti e così abbiamo fatto. Dopo essere usciti torniamo in stanza, avremmo voluto fare una doccia ma fortunatamente prima mi sono accorta che mancava il phon (c’era scritto che bisognava richiederlo alla reception) ma ovviamente era chiusa già a quell’ora, comunque decidiamo di andare a letto e basta. Stamattina andiamo per fare colazione e il ragazzo mi ha aggredito gridando e prendendomi per stupida per aver comunicato tutto ad Expedia. Io per altro Donna incinta. È STATO VERAMENTE VERGOGNOSO, sempre urlando ci ha detto di andare subito via! NO COMMENT

En 200 aar gammel gaard som er gjort om til hotel.De var ekstremt opptatt av aa spare paa strom der de satt imorket og saa paa dataskjermen.At man ber gjestene om aa slaa av aircon og at man bruker for mye strom pga av sikringene gaar i det underdimisjonerte stromanlegget er helt utrolig.Lose fliser paa gulvet.At man skal betale snittpris paa ca 2000kr for dette rommet i 8dager,er blodpris.Dobbel pris paa torsdager,3000kr. Frokosten,trist.Haandkler utvasket.Fliser som ble vasket naar jeg klaget paa skittent gulv.Burde steames for aa fjerne skitten fra mange aar tilbake.ikke soplekasse paa rommet,bare badet.Man maa tomme sopla selv.Ingen av de ansatte trivdes.Folte meg aldri velkommen der.2 euro for en kopp te.Deilig aa dra derfra .

Very pleasant and warm stay
The stuff is very friendly and helpful. The location was right on the main street of Catania, in the city center. The building is historical with the good renovation.

- • As it’s in the city center, you should think about parking possibilities ahead, you can’t stay with the car right in front of the hotel. Though there is a taxi parking spot which you could probably use to unload the luggage.

- • Though one must walk up from the ground floor to the first floor to get to the hotel, the staff graciously offers to help carry your luggage up and down.

- • It had too many stairs to climb for a couple our age and lighting was poor. The room smelled of raw sewerage, it was not air conditioned, couldn’t open window because of Mosquitoes.

I very much liked the assistance of Marco and Domenico. Both made the extra effort to assure our satisfaction. It was within the old city of Catania, so it was within walking distance of the major sites. I liked the old-world ambiance

It was a very good value for money and the host was super welcoming and nice. Spot on location.
Perfect location. Close to city centre, cafes, restaurants and shops. And directly next to Bellini Park. Also close walk to bus stop that takes you straight to the airport. The host is super nice and welcoming. The hotel isn’t modern but it has an interesting look and a bit of character. Rooms are spacious.

What really stands out about our stay at Etnea is the staff. Paola was very helpful to message with over WhatsApp, and it was truly a pleasure to meet Marco. He was kind, thoughtful, energetic, passionate, friendly, and just a fantastic host. For instance, we got there late in the evening and, correctly guessing we were hungry, he immediately upon check-in offered to take us in his car to a restaurant nearby that he recommended: Trattoria Da Peppino. The restaurant was very good and very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food, ambiance and service. Otherwise, the room was nice, it was clean, the beds were comfortable, breakfast was perfectly serviceable... It was a great stay overall.

- • I have two very minor complaints. The first is that there was no way to acquire bottled water late at night (drinking from the tap is discouraged in Sicily), so perhaps think of buying a bottle during the day/evening. The second is that there were no paper maps at the front desk. We were told this is to save on paper, which I guess is fair enough, but it's really valuable to be able to talk about the touristic locations and activities with a paper map on hand. Google Maps is great, but paper is easier to take notes on and to show other people than a smartphone. Thankfully, Municipio di Catania has some free paper maps of the city with the major landmarks listed.

Not on ground floor. Carrying luggage up a flight 1-1/2 of stairs , loose tiles. Had to argue to get air conditioner in room. All lights are turned off daily. You had to manually turn on hallway lights at the hotel(not room). No staff available after 9:30. Rooms we clean and tidy.

Unique, full of character, well manged accommodation close to everything you need for visiting Catania
Amazing property , over 200 year old with character , in the center of the city, nicely managed by Marco and Domenico . I wish I could stay longer but I now know where to stay next time I am in Catania , or Sicily for that matter.

- • It’s not so much a dislike, as I just love the character of this awesome accommodation, but I’d probably improve the shower to be more modern.

Not at all recommended
I asked for late check-in and they charged me 60€ just because they sent me an email with instructions. No employ was waiting for me to justify this amount. - • Breakfast contains too much sugar. Why not wholemeal bread, granola, cheese, grapes ...? The room is also a bit dark.

Hotel viellot. Chambre tres sombre peu confortable et tres froide situe en etage avec ascenseur...en panne. Note que la reception parle plusieurs langue faux il ni a qu.un monsieur qui ne parle que l.italien et ne comprend que vous ne comprenez pas sa langue. Bref je suis partie plus tot que prevu.

- • The host was rude, intrusive, held on to our passports overnight instead of returning them asap creating tension in the morning as we had to check out early to get a bus and we're not sure whether we would get the passports back in time. The location is great. The rooms, while ornate and old worldly are very dark and impractical to get normal things done like packing your bags

The place is located 10 minutes walking from the Piazza del Duomo. In fro t of Villa Bellini. But the best part of this place is Domenico! This guy is the soul of this place!!! And his recommendations are priceless (best seafood in Catania) ❤️
