Out of this world experience
The location of this camp offers an extraordinary experience of encountering South African wildlife in person! If you book this camp, be prepared to spend nights in tents, but don't worry - the "tents" are actually sturdy fabric cabins covered with a hard second roof. The tents are elevated about 5 ft (1.5 m) above the ground on a wooden platform with a nice deck in front. There are only 11 tents in the camp, providing a very intimate experience. Each tent has a comfortable seating area in front, a mosquito net-protected king bed, and a flush toilet and shower. In our case, there were only two guests staying at the camp for 1.5 days (due to the low season). The nights can be relatively cold, but the tents are equipped with gas heaters that the very helpful staff turns on at night. Wildlife can be observed at any time, with elephants frequently feeding nearby, creating a sense of security. The view from the deck or the main building, where the office, kitchen, and dining area are located, is amazing. It's peaceful to have breakfast while watching various animals come to drink water from the large water hole just a short distance away. The game drives with our guide/driver Werner were filled with leisurely discoveries of animal life unfolding before us. The slow pace allows for ample time to observe the animals without causing any disturbance. Werner's deep knowledge of the reserve's corners, paths, and hidden treasures was greatly appreciated. An unforgettable experience.

Stunning setup and ambiance. Excellently managed with attention to detail, where each guest is individually prioritized. It feels raw and immersed in African nature, offering many non-intrusive luxuries. We were so impressed that we extended our stay for an extra night. 5-star accommodation combined with a private safari.

A fantastic lodge in the midst of nature! Excellent facilities.
Very atmospheric location. The journey there is already an adventure. Very friendly reception. Two amazing game drives with a knowledgeable and fun ranger. The wildlife is in close proximity, including elephants, zebras, and even a lion seen and heard from very close. The meals are excellent, with a great breakfast, varied and tasty lunch, and candlelit dinner on the terrace.

Great location at a waterhole but few sightings on game drives
Gorah Elephant Camp has a great location at a waterhole where we saw elephants, zebras, warthogs, and rhinos (at night).

- • The game drives were disappointing with few sightings. The sun loungers at the pool were not clean, and there were many insects in the pool.
Guaranteed escape
The setting. Exceptional staff. Our guide Rian taught us a lot about the bush and its animals. The comfort of the tents.

Gorah doesn’t feel like a stay, it feels like being remembered by the wild.
The staff didn’t just host, they held space for magic. I came for wildlife… I left feeling wildly alive.
