Golden City Hotel

Great hotel!

We booked a stay at the Athens Central Apartments but when we showed up around 8.40pm, we still hadn't received instructions or a security code to enter the building. When we called the number provided, we are advised to go to this hotel to collect the keys. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were informed that the Athens Central Apartments had arranged for us to stay at this hotel which we had no complaints about. We were allocated a double room which although was rather small, was very comfortable and cosy. The hotel and room was very clean and smelled gorgeous. Breakfast was also included in our stay and it didn't disappoint as there was plenty of choice and the view from the restaurant was complimentary. The staff at reception were lovely. The hotel is in Omonia which isn't the best of places in Athens, however; it is central and within walking distance to most of the sights. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

Stayed here recently and was disappointed by the experience. The double room was the smallest I’ve ever stayed in, with barely any space to move around. I was charged €30 for a four-hour late checkout after having to stay overnight in hospital due to food poisoning, which felt unreasonable. The only positive was the staff in the bar/café area — they were genuinely friendly and helpful. Otherwise, not good value for money.

Small trip in Athens

The best hotel I have ever visited! Polite and friendly staff! Set clean and comfortable rooms…and delicious breakfast with big variety!

Employees use your booking information and contact details for personal purposes. They use them to text you and make flirtatious advances. A theft also occurred within the Dima facility, managed by the same owner. A report will be done soon

Staff friendly, place clean but the are unsafe

Avoid this hotel

I felt unsafe and afraid to walk alone, even in daylight. The location is very near Omonia Square, a notoriously bad neighborhood in Athens. There are a lot of drug users, and zombie-like people line the streets. The room I had was small and dark. The safe was broken, and I was told I would have to wait for a technician to come and fix it, but in the 3 days I was there, he never showed up. For the 9 floors of the hotel, there is only one small elevator, so the waiting time is very long. During my stay, there were lots of youth groups staying—screaming and playing loud music all night. One positive is the wonderful breakfast served on the roof terrace that has a nice view.

The hotel is good, the buffet breakfast was very nice and the restaurant at the terrace is very enjoyable. The area is not the best, i felt a bit uneasy walking around at night but on the other side there are great local restaurants around where the locals eat which offer excellent food for a good price. In general my experience was good. I would come back.
