Beautiful hotel in a great location
Small and very charming hotel in a quiet residential area, yet close to the city center. Very friendly and warm team. We felt very comfortable. The breakfast was very good and varied. Sweet and savory options equally well represented. Particularly delicious were the fresh bread with nuts and raisins, the high-quality tea, and the small pastries with chocolate and vanilla. The breakfast room is quiet and tastefully decorated. There is a small, cozy bar area that was used every evening. Rooms and bathrooms are not huge but big enough. Fridge, kettle, and Nespresso machine available. Comfortable beds and a choice of two square pillows. Note: there is only one duvet. It's best to ask for two separate duvets beforehand or when checking in. I know it's easier and more economical for hotels to use one duvet. And it looks better in pictures. I generally don't think this trend in hotels is good, as it goes against the sleeping habits of most guests. We got two duvets, problem solved, and no nightly tug-of-war over the duvet. Free parking 150 m away. Although there are free parking spaces on the street everywhere, you can only park for a maximum of 4 hours with a parking disc during the day (parking without a parking disc possible from 18:00 until the morning). Carrefour and Lidl supermarkets nearby, 8 minutes on foot. Only 12 minutes on foot to the old city gate Smedenpoort. From here, you are already in the city center area with shops and restaurants. Then it's not far on foot to the old town center near the Belfry of Bruges. Stop for a small beer at Bar Oswald on the way, then continue. Bruges is a beautiful city, with very good food and even better beers. You can do everything on foot and take a boat ride on the canals. Another highlight: the proximity to the North Sea. Oostende is only 25 minutes away by car.
