This hotel has everything we needed - comfortable bed, coffee maker, adequate bathroom and outdoor pool. It is a comfortable older building with cracks and personality - a lot like New Orleans itself. The staff will do whatever you request and treat everyone like family.

Not Great
The place is ok if you don’t expect a lot. There were just a lot of things you take for granted in other places that weren’t here. For starters. The picture shown here of the entry must be VERY old. I don’t think it’s seen a paint brush since then. They didn’t have a mat inside the door, someone had thrown down a bath towel. There was no heat in the room during the cold snap, our room was 65°. There isn’t recirculating hot water so you have to wait several minutes waiting for it in the shower and waste quite a bit of water in the process. There was only one hanger in the armoire, so good luck hanging anything up. The towel rack fell off the wall the first night and there was no shower curtain. Wifi worked for about the first 8 hours of a 3 day stay, the staff was pretty ambivalent, just shrugged and said “yeah, maybe it’s the weather”. The mostly empty popcorn maker off the lobby wasn’t cleaned for 2 days. We like the place for its proximity to Frenchmen St., but it’s hard to overlook this kind of stuff.

A Hidden Gem Close to the French Quarter
I recently stayed at Lamothe House during a solo 3-night solo visit to the Big Easy. This place is a hidden gem and definitely for those who favor old world charm over modern (soulless) designs and brand new everything etc. It’s in a quiet neighborhood yet a short walk to the French Quarter. The courtyard and pool are quite lovely. The Misses Carol, Carlette, and Shwanda (I apologize for any misspellings) are extremely kind, helpful, and gems in their own right. The only reason I’m rating this place a 4/5 is that the coffee maker in my room did not work, though in fairness to the hotel staff, I didn’t raise this issue while there. I would NOT hesitate to stay here again or recommend this place to anyone I know planning a visit to NOLA.
