The relatively central, yet quiet location. The beautiful, spacious, and well-kept garden. The lavish breakfast. Parking on the premises. The large terrace in the room overlooking the garden. The overall design of the property. The good restaurant where you can enjoy excellent meals both for lunch and dinner.

- • Despite the Mid-Century charm, the hotel appears to be significantly outdated, a renovation of the buildings in the main wing would be appropriate.
Our sixth stay in ten years - heaven!
We just had our sixth holiday at the wonderful hotel on Madeira. The staff are fantastic and ensure a relaxed holiday for all. The hotel is an oasis and a 30-minute walk from central Funchal. It's a great place to relax and unwind and also a great location from which to explore the rest of the island. Bus transport is excellent and provides an option to renting a car or taking a taxi. The hotel places emphasis on wellbeing and has a spa and pools as well as options for massage and other therapies. Restaurants in the hotel include an informal terrace as well as a Michelin-starred restaurant. There are plenty of local restaurants where locals eat so don't be afraid to try out their authentic dishes. We may well be drawn back again in the future - I hope so.

- • Breakfast very cramped, few places on the terrace, at times from 10.15 the buffet was quite empty. Bathrooms are outdated.
