STAY HERE FOR SURE.
AMAZING! The rooms were gorgeous. The food delicious. The service impeccable. The location PERFECT. Highly recommend this spot for any type of traveler! It was luxury but with a comfortable "home" feel, which is hard to do. And let's talk about the spa. Wow. They have a personal (solo) steam room, which is an extremely unique experience. You can steam and cold shower at the same time; they provide a scrub while in there as well. And the massage and facial were excellent. LOVED the spa experience here . Highly recommend this spot for all parts of travel — and highly recommend San Miguel as a destination.

Hospitality at its finest
Wonderful hotel! Everything from the atmosphere, the rooms, the food, it was absolutely lovely. I stay in over 150+ nights a year and this was one of the most enjoyable hotels I have visited. I was here for business but the atmosphere made it feel like a vacation. But what really set this hotel apart was the staff. Everyone from the front desk, concierge, waitstaff and housekeeping were all top notch. When you take pride and are happy it shows and this hotel is doing it right. Hospitality at its finest:

Horrendous. Avoid!!!
Went to San Miguel to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Told the hotel that it was his bday when making the reservation. We made a huge mistake of staying here. They didn’t acknowledge it in any way - no champagne, no card, no balloons. And we are BOTH gold members. The photos make it look glossy and shiny, but it’s not at all. It’s a horrible hotel. Terrible service and completely inattentive staff. First day we found long strands of black hair on the floor, second day a roach crawling across the nightstand. Furniture is dated and dirty. GUSTAVO at the front desk was defensive, dismissive and unhelpful when we complained. We checked out the next day and lost a day of our vacation to packing, and then unpacking at the new hotel. On top of it all - no apology and they’re refusing to refund our unused points. Do not stay here if you want a relaxing trip or to be made to feel special. This is not the place.

Worst hotel in SMA.
If I could give this hotel 0 stars, I would. The check-in experience was horrendous. The receptionist spent most of the time explaining everything the hotel doesn’t offer: no upgrades, no late checkout, only one bottle of water per room, and any additional water comes with an extra charge. Even breakfast was disappointing — apparently only juice and toast are included, and anything else costs extra. To make matters worse, the concierge (last name Lopez) openly complained that the hotel owner dislikes the Marriott Bonvoy program, said the system “doesn’t work,” and mentioned they want to leave the program soon. What a terrible first impression. The entire atmosphere felt hostile and unwelcoming, as if nobody working there actually wanted to be there — probably because of poor management or ownership. Honestly, it’s no surprise I seemed to be the only guest staying at the hotel. There are countless better options in SMA. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Perfect
Hotel Matilda and the staff were everything we had read and heard about. Concierge Samantha and Axel were so helpful and always got us into places that were hard to get reservations. It was a beautiful stay and our housekeeping was perfect every day all day.

Hotel Matilda San Miguel de Allende 5 stars!
Hotel Matilda is a real jewel in San Miguel Allende. Our stay just happened to be during the recent disturbances in Mexico. San Miguel Allende might just be the safest place in North America, and so beautiful even during this time. The staff and management at Hotel Matilda have thought of everything to deliver the perfect vacation stay for their guest. From the Michelin experienced Chef to the Concierge team perfection in service. The Hotel is a beautiful design that fits into this UNESCO village in style and elegance. And I really enjoyed the size, I think it is only 30 rooms. This is the place to stay in San Miguel!!! 5 stars DC

Hotel Matilda lived up to its Michelin rating. Accommodations, service, food were excellent. Its location was perfect for exploring this amazing city, San Miguel. The concierges were super friendly and helpful in finding cool rooftop restaurants and places to see. What's very special is that almost everyone San Miguel ware pleasant and friendly. It is a historical site, which makes the visit very special.

Great Hotel in SMA
We stayed here three nights while visiting SMA. This hotel is pretty good in terms of location and quality. It is located on one of the nicest streets in this town. It is also really close to the town square and Parroquia. Our stay included continental breakfast, which consisted of toast, yogurt, granola, fruit, juice, and coffee. However, since we are vegan, we only enjoyed the fruit, toast with jam, and juices. Everyone at the hotel was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The reason I did not give it a full rating is because our room could use some maintenance/improvement in the bathroom, as one of the faucets leaked when closed and the toilet didn’t flush well. We could also hear exterior noises pretty good while inside our room with the door shut; we did have the room closest to the bar and pool though. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious- to my liking. Overall, I would return.
