Very Good

Great location, nice modern rooms, and concierge Eduardo Mena was outstanding -he went above and beyond, often resolving issues before they even arose.

  • We stayed at the hotel both before and right after the renovation. Unfortunately, aside from the room updates, nothing else seems to have changed.

Do not install the hotel's app

The hotel was large and the rooms were fine. The restaurant staff were very friendly, not so much the reception staff...

  • Meliá's app, if you can, do not install it or pay anything from there. They stopped us from entering and leaving because according to them, they did not have the payment for the stay, but it had been paid.

  • I did the check-in online and they made me pay for the entire stay at the check-out because the transaction was still in progress. They were very rude and mean to us. Also, they restrict your visit to the pyramid where you are staying; you can only visit the area of your room/pyramid. It doesn't make any sense...

Very bad service

We are presently at the hotel. We travel a lot each year to all-inclusive resorts. They are not ready at all to open. The service is nonexistent, it takes 20 minutes to get a drink at the pool bar, you have to wait at least 45 minutes to get a reservation at the restaurant and when you are there, they make you wait 30 minutes... The staff is rude and not accommodating. The staff really don't care about their guests. And the hotel is missing employees. We've tried to talk with someone at the hotel and they don't even reach out to us. I will definitely not recommend this hotel.

Not ready to be open

Honestly, the experience was better here before the multimillion-dollar renovations. The rooms are nice but as a whole, this hotel is not ready to be open yet. Buffet just not open sometimes, no signs or advance notice. There's a beach shack for burgers, fries, etc., not open yet, rusty nails and plastic construction materials strewn about at the bottom of the stairs to the beach. They selectively delete comments on Instagram so there's a reason you only see complimentary comments. It's a nice place for sure but lots of work still to be done here.

Either the most exclusive hotel in the world — or something quite different

Paradisus Cancun appears to have allegedly reopened after renovation on April 1, and from the beach, it actually looked quite nice. We had stayed there many years ago, were intrigued to see the refreshed property, and were even considering moving over from our current hotel. That turned out to be impossible — and not in the chic, velvet-rope, ultra-luxury sense. We first walked up from the beach side, simply hoping to have a quick look and speak to the front desk. Instead, we were curtly told to leave. No problem, we thought — perhaps just an awkward misunderstanding. So we tried calling the hotel multiple times. We asked their hotel operator to connect us to the front desk, and each time the call was dropped. Four times in a row. Still assuming this must be some opening-week chaos, we later drove over in person to speak to the front desk directly. Security called up, disappeared for a while, then came back to inform us that we were not allowed to enter and should call reservations. So we did. Central reservations genuinely tried to help and, to their credit, were clearly embarrassed once we explained what had happened. But they could not help either, seemed almost at a loss for words, and were unable to provide even an alternative direct number or email address for the hotel. So: is this simply an astonishing customer-service breakdown? Or is Paradisus Cancun aiming to become the most exclusive hotel in the world — not because everyone wants to get in, but because apparently no one can? By the end, we were left wondering whether it was a hotel or a very elegant cover for some more mysterious operation. If so, mission accomplished.

Music too loud. All-inclusive except for quite a few bits.

All-inclusive where you aren't always included. Booked All-Inclusive in the Adult Area via Kuoni. Day one - sorry you can't sit on those sun loungers unless you hire a cabana. Plenty of loungers but speakers and music everywhere. Music very loud especially when the entertainment is around the pool. Not for those who like a quiet break. Although there are plenty of middle-aged people who think they are still 20. They have a quiet area but it is only for the use of Residence Members - and All-Inclusive are not members… Restaurants are very good. Steakhouse was another £250 for dinner. Lemon Fish - Peruvian cuisine was better and included. Rooms and service exceptional. Beds large and comfy. Tour selections are ok. They have a desk and rep in the Adults section but prices can be higher than the same online. They will offer discounts including US$100 to listen to the Melia Circle sales pitch... There is another desk with a greater selection of tours in the Family area.
