Spring Break for a family of 4
We had a good time at the Moon Palace - Sunrise. The shuttle serviced we booked through the app worked out well, and the resort only took about 20 minutes from the airport. Check-in was a breeze as we got in around 9pm. We traveled with our 2 girls who are 10 and 12. They were too old to be entertained by the "kids" activities, but too young/shy to join the older crowd. It's a tricky age!! Pros: - Many pools (the pool by the kids area at the sunrise is warm water as it's connected to a few "hot tubs" - Access to Nizuc. After 2 days hanging at the pool at Sunrise, the girls were getting a bit antsy so we decided to explore Nizuc. The pools there are smaller and a lot colder (which the girls appreciated). The change in scenery was welcome as The Sunrise had more HS/college spring breakers who were having a bit too much fun. Nizuc was quieter. - Restaurant - We REALLY enjoyed Momo a la carte (not the teppanyaki). Even if it's booked for the evening you want to go, add yourself to the wait list and most likely than not, you will be able to get a table. - 24:7 Cafe at the Sunrise. The girls enjoyed ordering desserts, crepes, and ice cream from here. The Cafe at the Sunrise is much more efficient than Nizuc (more staff). - The staff were friendly and attentive. The front desk is able to break big bills for you! - Evening entertainment - we enjoyed the magic show the most. We didn't get to see the fire show. Areas for improvement: - the biggest disappointment was the beach. We knew that sargassum was an issue but was still hoping for some beach time. - It would make it much easier if poolside restaurants had QR codes that the guests can scan to see what is available to order. - The rooms are definitely dated. It was clean but dirty, if that makes sense. And what is up with the hot tub in the middle of the room? It takes up so much real estate in a tight room. - Buffet - compared to other all-inclusives we've stayed in, I felt the buffet options never changed. We enjoyed the buffet at the Nizuc (El manglar & Carvao) over the Sunrise (Bugambilias - it's SO dark in there & Gondola). Better atmosphere and presentation of food. - The pasta line took 20 minutes for my daughter. I understand the "appeal" of "made to order", however when everyone is ordering pasta with red sauce vs butter vs Alfredo, it would be much more efficient to have it prepared. - Chips were always stale (assuming because of the humidity). I wish that guac and salsa were more readily available. Tip: - the omelette line can be very long at the Gondola. If you goto El Manglar (Nizuc), our waitress took our omelette order! It was a pleasant surprise :) - If you want a lounge chair at The Sunrise, you need to be out there by 7/ 7:30am. Earlier the better if you have a big group. Make sure you bring towels in the day prior to use on the chairs! (On the contrary, Nizuc poolside chairs were still available at 9am) - Book an excursion to change things up. We booked it through the hotel, but the company they partner with is Cancun Adventures. I'm sure if you book directly through them, it'll be cheaper. - Unsure if paying extra for an ocean view room is worth it. The buildings are only 3 levels. Unless you're on the top level, you probably can't "view" the ocean.

Look no further than the Golf Spa
I never have to worry about things when I come to this spa. The golf spa is my favourite little getaway within the resort and I would recommend it to everyone. The staff are truly what make it all so special. Alejandra and Carolina made me want to come back for such a comfortable atmosphere. I felt seen to, looked after and left feeling twice as refreshed.

NO REFUND ISSUED
Been to MP , became a member. Booked for May 2027, paid in full because you have to. Price cane down so I cancelled the original booking, online, then rebooked with lower price. When I called 2 weeks later regarding the refund for 1st booking I was told, cant cancel online need to do by phone, also could not book for lower price, i was "i eligible". At this point I've paid over $10,000 on my credit card. I kept the 1st booking price, my payment status says "pending". I was told it would be removed, its not. AND my refund for the lower price still not refunded, was told it was priority. Beautiful place but customer service related to issues such as refunds, TERRIBLE. This has been going on since March 13, its Apr 3

Spring Break 2026
Hardly ever do I write reviews, but I will often read them prior to booking a vacation. My wife, three boys (13, 11, and 5), and myself are currently on our return flight from spending 4 nights/5 days at Moon Palace in Cancun. I booked it last minute for our spring break and we were placed within the Sunrise portion of this resort (specifically La Pina building). The three sections of this resort are Sunrise, Nizuc, and The Grand. First off, this property is massive and it was quite crowded given that it was spring break season. The resort overall is dated and in need of a lot of repair/updating. The grounds are huge and yet sadly depressing. There are large manmade lagoons that could be used to showcase local marine and wildlife. Instead, there are scattered chlorine tablets throughout them all presumably to prevent any offending odors or mosquito infestation while the bottom is littered with fallen coconuts and other items cast into them by those staying there. While there are multiple workers tending to the grounds, it begs the question as to why. Allowing nature to take over might actually make it more appealing. Sidewalks are cracked. Chosen exterior tile flooring is dangerously slippery when wet (I would not be surprised if anyone has ever tried to sue due to injuring themselves because of a fall). There are missing tiles in the pools that have the potential to cause cuts. The nice thing about this place being so large, is that there is much to explore and lots of dining options. And overall, it is a hit with kids as there are arcades, a bowling alley, bumper cars, rock climbing, and the list goes on and on. But for parents, it will definitely be overwhelming and potentially quite costly (I'll comment on this costly part shortly). The food is okay and the alcoholic options are on par for other all inclusive resorts throughout Mexico and the Caribbean. There is nothing exceptional or memorable about this location when it comes to food and drink. As previously stated, we were placed in the Sunrise portion and we attended their sales pitch spiel to obtain day passes to The Grand so that our kids could go to the large water park there and make use some of their offered activities. Had we not gotten the free days passes by giving up 2 hours of our time as a family (yes, a family, as both my wife and I had to attend) the total cost for single day passes for the 5 of us would have been $1200 USD. That's not a typo! And be prepared to give three firm no's to three separate people during the presentation and a final firm no upon checkout about buying into their membership. Obviously, use of The Grand offerings are included if you book The Grand portion but be prepared to fork out a lot more up front. As for rooms, noise levels were as to be expected. There were sporadic loud outbursts throughout the night, but nothing that kept us up for extended periods of time during the wee hours of the morning. We had a family suite, basically adjoining rooms with one room having a king bed and the other having two twin beds. Therefore, space was not an issue. However, one of the rooms had a cockroach issue. Now don't get me wrong, we expect to see all kinds of insect flora being in a warm and humid location. However, it's a totally different issue when your 13 or 11 year old is greeted by multiple cockroaches in the bathroom when they get up in the middle of the night to go pee. Needless to say, we all slept with multiple lights on throughout the room to try to keep them in their hiding spots (one of which was confirmed to be the minibar cabinet). I did make mention of this fact upon checkout and was simply told they would make a note of it and questioned whether or not I reported this in real time. I'm not sure what reporting it in real time would have done as the offending bugs were already squashed by me. There was no apology, no offer of any type of compensation for the mental angst this caused us. We plan to leave our suitcases in our garage upon our return home and I will go through every single clothing item before taking it into our house to be laundered over the weekend. Lastly, is the issue of the beach. It is beautiful white sand as to be expected if you've ever been to Mexico or the Caribbean. However, the sargassum extends for at least 20-30 yards out along the entire shoreline making the beach unusable for swimming purposes. I booked this trip through Costco and they do issue a warning about the sargassum levels during certain times of the year. However, I was told by both the membership presenter as well as the final person who approached us upon checkout about membership that the beach is like that year round. You read that right, year round. In essence, do not ever go to this resort if your intention is to have at least one nice beach day. That will never happen. And I plan to take this issue up with Costco upon our return home. It should be clearly stated by them that the beach at this particular location is not usable at any point during the year. Anyway, hope this helps anyone who read through the entire thing. And if any staff members from The Moon Palace are reading this and would like to follow up with me, my family and I stayed there from March 30, 2026 to April 3, 2026 and we were located in rooms 3733 and 3735 in the La Pina building in the Sunrise portion. This should give you more than enough information to figure out how to reach me without me giving out any personal contact information on this platform.

Relaxing Mani/pedi at sunrise beauty salon
Julia in the sunrise beauty salon was very welcoming and kind. She offered an amazing arm/hand and leg/foot massage which was very relaxing. The aroma therapy was also very calming. She was lovely and my nails and toes look perfect for the rest of my vacation.

A fantastic return to the Moon Palace, Cancun. Relaxing, welcoming, as good as it’s always been.
We recently returned to Moon Palace Cancun for the first time since 2022, having previously visited pre-Covid. It was wonderful to come back to a place that holds such great memories, and we’re happy to say it didn’t disappoint. Although we couldn’t book our preferred Nizuc section, we stayed in Sunrise and were very pleased with the location. Our room even offered a partial sea view, which was a lovely bonus. The resort is huge, but it never feels overcrowded. There are so many restaurants that you never need to repeat one unless you want to. The variety and quality of food were excellent throughout our stay, with highlights including the steakhouse, Teppanyaki, and the Indian restaurant. We chose not to leave the resort this time, as we were focused on relaxing—and there’s more than enough to do on-site. Days were spent enjoying the pools, beach walks, and occasional bike rides. The beach was noticeably improved, with the hotel doing a great job managing seaweed. It made a big difference compared to previous visits. Poolside service was excellent, staff were attentive, friendly, and always on hand to refresh drinks. With the all-inclusive setup, everything feels easy and stress-free. Breakfast at the Nizuc section was a highlight, with a wide variety of options and even Eggs Benedict available at the buffet, something you don’t often see. The resort feels very safe, and we were comfortable leaving belongings on loungers while swimming. We also made use of the resort credit: * A golf lesson with Adam was a standout experience, fun, relaxed, and perfect for beginners. * A spa experience arranged by Diana, Guest Relations was another highlight, especially for our son, who loved his first ever spa visit. The Palace app is very useful for keeping up with daily activities and evening entertainment, which helped add variety to our stay. Special mentions: * Amalia at the poolside restaurant for making a meal extra special * Adam (golf instructor) for a fantastic lesson * Diana, Guest Relations for outstanding support and service The journey is long, over 10 hours for us, but absolutely worth it once you arrive. The staff across the resort, from buggy drivers to restaurant teams, are consistently welcoming and helpful. Overall: A relaxing, high-quality holiday with excellent service, food, and atmosphere. We wouldn’t hesitate to return again.
