Comfortable Bed & Bathroom but Caveats as to the Hotel Location and Breakfast
We recently stayed for multiple days on a short trip to QC. Overall, the experience was fine with a few caveats. Most importantly and positively, the room was spacious and furnished with a king bed with a great mattress & bed linens. Every morning my husband would comment on the comfort level of the bed. The bathroom was similarly equipped with a good-size stall shower, with ample hot water and water pressure (once we figured out the controls for the water). The bath linens were a bit thin and skimpy, but not awful. However, unless you deposited them on the floor each morning, the staff would not change them (even though there was no signage in the room to that effect). There was a nice size sitting area, equipped with an attractive, ultra-modern looking love seat, easy chair, and coffee table. Unfortunately, the style of the furniture was wholly nonfunctional and uncomfortable. The chair and loveseat were quite low to the ground with no arms. The coffee table was positioned a fair distance from the love seat and chairs. This was awkward for consuming the "room service" breakfast that is included with the room rate (more on the breakfast below). There were no outlets for recharging devices that were within easy reach of any of these furnishings. The hotel includes a complementary with the room rate, that is delivered each morning at 7am (left in a basket outside the room). The food included in the basket was acceptable but not great. Pastries (croissant and other puff pastries like Pain au Chocolat) were of a very middling quality. Also included were Greek Yogurt (Oikos vanilla), juice, small packages of a mild cheese, and clementines. No coffee (or tea) is delivered with the breakfast. Rather, the room was equipped with a small drip coffee maker and ground coffee in filter packages that delivered absolutely dreadful coffee. Alternately, one can obtain better quality coffee from a machine in the lounge on the lobby level, with a choice of latte, cappuccino, espresso, or Americano. We were staying on the 4th floor so getting one's morning coffee from the lounge was inconvenient; however, after the 1st morning's subpar experience with the drip coffee from the in-room machine, I rode down on the elevator each morning with the empty coffee pot from the room and filled it with 4 cups of latte. The hotel fronts on very busy street with lots of bars, chain restaurants, souvenir shops, etc. — i.e., a very tacky collection of "tourist traps." Would I stay there again? Perhaps. I'd want to compare the room rates for hotels located in a more quiet location.

Conveniently located, well appointed, Hotel du Vieux-Quebec. See you next year!
My wife and I would like to express our sincere appreciation for the outstanding service we received during our recent stay at Hotel Du Vieux from July 23–25. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by your staff, whose friendliness made us feel at home. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. My wife especially appreciated the thoughtful welcome basket waiting for us upon our arrival; a gracious touch. Please extend our thanks to everyone who helped make our visit so memorable. We look forward to returning to Hotel Du Vieux on future visits to your wonderful city.

Charming hotel with great staff.
A perfect boutique hotel in the middle of Old Quebec. I can understand why it’s rated #1. The room was well-appointed w espresso machine, fridge, seating area and lovely bathtub. Charming lounge on first floor has a killer espresso machine. The staff are beyond helpful and there’s hotel parking around the corner. There’s room in front of the hotel to temporarily unpack your car, just pull up in front. Hotel staff will assist with parking which is just around the corner. There’s even an apiary on the roof as part of an urban farming scheme, and the hotel sells its own honey. The bistro in front offers a charming sidewalk dining experience. Note: if you’re one of those Americans who thinks a “luxury” hotel should have a state of the art gym, this is not that. It’s a European-style hotel.

Wonderful hotel — one caution about tub/shower
What a wonderful experience staying at Hotel du Vieux for 3 nights. My wife and I loved this place. The building might be old but the rooms (or at least our king corner room) and the lobby are beautifully renovated with so many practical touches. Our room was gorgeous, with hardwood floors, exposed stone and brick on one of the walls, excellent and quiet HVAC, a small seating area, ample lighting, comfortable bed, and quality pillows (which, let’s face it, many hotels do not have). The only caveat is that there is a substantially deep and tall lip on the tub/shower, shown in the picture. My wife and I could each get over it, and thereby in and out of the shower, without too much trouble, but I can imagine many folks would find it challenging or impossible due to mobility or balance issues. The lobby has a spacious lounge with lots of seating and an espresso/coffee machine. We sat down there a few times to rest midday because we had been doing so much walking around the city. Many rave about the breakfast basket that can be delivered to your room. The contents were not to my taste, but my wife liked it. It’s a nice touch, and there are plenty of restaurants serving fuller breakfast options within walking distance.

Perfect place to explore Quebec City
Everything about this experience was amazing. So easy to communicate by email to book and for questions before we got there. Underground parking a block away. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. Extra nice to have the 'lounge' on the main floor for coffee and a place to bring our meals if wanted. Perfect location - did not need to drive anywhere, but it was quiet so great for sleeping. This is my new go to place to stay in Quebec. Enjoy!!

FABULOUS BOUTIQUE HOTEL IN QUEBEC CITY!
We stayed for 6 nights at this hotel and loved every minute of it. We stayed so many nights that we found out the manager had given us an upgraded room to ensure our comfort while there at no extra charge! It was quiet, clean and the staff was so friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for sightseeing right out the front door. The breakfast basket was such a treat in the morning and the downstairs gathering room was awesome with coffee, tea, fruit, etc. All the excellent reviews I read were absolutely true. So glad we stayed here!

Got it all!
My wife and I are so glad we chose this hotel. Great location, parking is convenient, our king bed room with fireplace and large screen TV is perfect. The staff could not be nicer, especially Pierre who will give you spot on recommendations for restaurants. Breakfast is delivered to your door each morning at 7 am in a picnic basket. Look no further.

Excellent Hotel
Stayed here 5 nights. Location is great, in the heart of everything yet it’s quiet. We’d planned to stay 2 nights but extended our stay and got upgraded to a bigger room. The staff is wonderful, especially Pierrot. He went above and beyond.

A Fantastic Hotel in a PERFECT Location
Exceptional Stay in the Heart of Old Québec L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec was our home for a six-day holiday in Québec City, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. Our double queen room with kitchenette was spacious, immaculately clean, quiet, and exceptionally comfortable. After long days exploring the city, we particularly appreciated the deep soaking tub, the rainfall shower, and what may have been some of the best water pressure we've experienced in a hotel anywhere. Small details matter, and this hotel gets them right. The location is fantastic--perfectly situated within Old Québec and within easy walking distance of the city's historic sites, restaurants, shops, and attractions. Despite being in the heart of everything, the hotel was remarkably peaceful and quiet. One of our favorite amenities was the guest lounge and its outstanding coffee machine, which quickly became part of our daily routine. We also opted for the breakfast package, and it was a delight. Each morning we awoke to a basket of fresh breakfast goodies hanging on our door: fresh pastries, juice, yogurt, and other treats. We never tired of it. As a fun local note, visitors should know that the beloved pain au chocolat is called a "chocolatine" here, just as it is in the south of France! What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is its people. M. Pierrôt deserves special recognition. He was warm, helpful, knowledgeable, and always greeted us with a genuine smile. In truth, every member of the staff we encountered embodied the hotel's reputation for friendly, personalized service. We also appreciated staying in a property with such a rich history. Built on land once known as the "Garden of the Poor," where medicinal plants were cultivated by the Augustines of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, the site has witnessed centuries of Québec City's evolution. Today, the hotel beautifully blends that historic character with modern comfort and thoughtful amenities and is very reasonable as well. It is easy to understand why L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec has earned such an outstanding reputation among travelers. For us, it was the perfect base from which to explore one of North America's most beautiful and historic cities. We would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it enthusiastically to anyone visiting Québec City. A sincere thank you to M. Pierrôt and the entire team for making our holiday so memorable. We hope to return again soon.
