Tired and noisy
The hotel was very noisy. We stayed in rooms that faced out to reception, but on the first floor. A group came in at 3.40 am and we're really noisy and nothing was done to stop them. Breakfast was average at best. The hotel is really tired. Plus side, I think bots in a good location and the staff were polite and friendly. Did for a one night pit stop though.

Retama hotel, fantastic stay
We had asked the hotel to have someone meet us at the Aguas Caliente train station. "Cloty" was there with our names on a sign waiting for us around 2pm on a Saturday. When we told her we needed to buy tickets for Machu Picchu she said follow me and started running, we followed right behind her to the Ministry of Culture where there was a long line. She was able to facilitate our purchase of 2 tickets for Monday within 15 minutes of our arrival. What a rock star!! Cloty was also very helpful with our many questions over the next few days. The hotel was located beside the river away from the loud part of town near the pathway to the hotsprings. We had very peaceful nights sleep the entire time. Breakfast in the morning had many options and they were fast in making eggs to order. The wifi was strong in our room and in the lobby. I would absolutely stay here again!
