Above average but needs some tweaks

I wish I could give 3.5 stars to be honest as 3 seems too low but I definitely don’t think I could give a 4. The location of the hotel is fab! Really close to lots of decent restaurants and bars, only 20 mins on the bus to old Trafford and the Trafford centre. The grounds of the hotel are lovely, I like the cobblestones as you walk in, I could swear there’s also a chocolate like scent that’s pumped throughout as well. The coffee shop is great and reasonably priced, couldn’t get enough lattes. We didn’t have any breakfast but I wish we did as it looked amazing. The staff are friendly and I like the fact they’re dressed casually, it makes me feel more relaxed for some reason. The decor in the rooms is nice, it has a scandi feel to it. I didn’t read the reviews but I have noticed others saying the same about the lights. They’re SO dark, it’s so difficult to get ready in the morning as you can’t see properly to put makeup on. The switches are incredibly annoying, all over the place so if you’re comfy in bed, you have to do a walk around to switch every one off. I found the bed quite uncomfortable to be honest, too hard for my liking and the pillows didn’t feel luxurious. The bathroom was nice, lovely hot shower but there was some black mould across some of the grout which for the price point, I was surprised at. I was quite disappointed that we didn’t have housekeeping, again for the price paid, it would have been nice to have fresh towels and the bed made. I’ve never not had this so perhaps my expectations are too high? The main reason for the stars down is the noise and temperature. There is basically no soundproofing above so when people walk above us, it’s like a herd of elephants, really annoying when you’re trying to sleep. The temperature was unbearable, so incredibly hot and this is from someone who usually runs cold. It was so hot I woke up feeling nauseous and had the driest throat. There is no air con which I understand given the buildings age but a fan would have been great. Overall an average stay but glad we tried somewhere new.

Lovely relaxed base with easy, walkable access to the city

Better than expected quality and size of room with lovely big windows over looking the canal. The mini kitchen and lounge area were a most welcome surprise. Unfortunately, the double bed was two singles and they slipped apart in the night, but each bed was most comfortable. A minor hiccup in an otherwise great experience.

Great little studio in heart of Manchester

Lovely Studio apartment with all the mod cons. Very convenient for Picadilly train station, near excellent cafes and restaurants. Well connected with buses and trams.

Great value and excellent location

Fabulous location, perfect for our show in the Palace Theatre and for exploring the city. Chinese quarter is close-by with some amazing restaurants. Our room was excellent, ideal for a longer stay than our 1 night. Great shower! Well equipped. Bed and pillows weren't the comfiest but ok for 1 night. I'd have asked for other pillows if staying longer. Staff were friendly and surroundings were beautiful. Great coffee in the coffee shop and what looked like an excellent area for co-working.

Christmas Stay

Great apartment, spacious, comfortable, and very well presented. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower was excellent, with two different shower head options. Amenities were provided, although a few extra coffee sachets would have been appreciated. The only downside was the lighting, which was quite dim with only one setting. It wasn’t ideal for tasks like applying makeup; however, I had seen this mentioned in other reviews and brought a travel light-up mirror, which helped. I appreciate this may be related to energy and sustainability considerations, but having an option to increase the lighting or adding a bright, illuminated bathroom mirror would be a welcome improvement. Overall, the space, décor, and comfort were excellent, and I would happily stay again.

Don't stay here

Not a 4 star hotel, it is a 2 star hotel with lipstick. Hot water cut out, window didn't close. Avoid!

Ok. Could be better.

Ok. I think could have been better. We weren’t warned that the room had restricted headroom. There was a huge metal girder across the top of the bed that we had to watch we didn’t bang our heads on getting in and out of bed. There wasn’t any foam to protect you if you accidentally hit it. It looked like foam had been there previously but removed. There were warning signs on the girders but they are kind of pointless when you get up in the night half asleep in a strange room after being out drinking. Also my husband couldn’t stand up in the shower as it was so low, he’s 6ft 5 and he had to bend to to get a shower as his head was on the ceiling.
