Potential to be fantastic, but doesn't live up to its 5 stars
Restaurant food was very good, free view and air con in the room was great and the large layout of the space with extra separate shower was good. Free soft drinks and a few snacks were also a nice surprise and the wine hour 4-5pm. The coffee machine and bottled water were also good (although the coffee capsules provided were terrible quality) ironing board in the room and safe and plenty of wardrobe space with drawers I utilized considering I was staying for some time. Bar staff were friendly in the salon and the doormen made it feel safe being a lone traveler.

- • Housekeeping was lacking, water bottles I had to request separately every day and they were inconsistent with restocking the bar and snacks and towels. I had to strip the bed myself to get them to change the sheets even after a full week there, and the dust accumulated in the room quite badly by the end of my two-week stay despite requesting housekeeping every few days. My own personal hair towel was taken by mistake by housekeeping, and initially Chloe on reception was helpful in locating it or offering to replace it, but when I followed up multiple times over a few days, reception staff didn't seem to care and also made me feel silly for asking about it as if it was my fault it had gone missing and that it was tough luck my personal property was lost. For a 5-star hotel, I would have expected more. I understand they don't have as much competition as hotels in London or Manchester might have, but I couldn't really say the attention to detail was 5 stars. I was also disappointed in the standard of the spa. I visited last August and had a high-quality treatment along with use of the thermal areas. This time the massage was lacking, despite booking the same treatment I had last year, also some of the facilities of the thermal areas were out of order. If this had been my first trip, I wouldn't pay for a spa day again. Could have been a bad day on that front and hopefully the spa can retrain their staff to the standard they aim for. Overall for the cost difference of the hotel compared with the Sandman close by, the service, staff, and location don't warrant it.

Breakfast was excellent. The location of the hotel was spot on. Everyone at the hotel made it their mission to make your stay perfect

- • Breakfast service is dramatic... the staff seems to be improvised... and especially out of three breakfasts, there was always something dirty... the cup, the jug, the glass, and the cutlery. Embarrassing
