Very Good

It was fine, nothing to report.

I didn't have breakfast. The room was nice but too hot because I didn't want to leave the window open, being on the ground floor. But the staff, especially Romulus in the morning, was very friendly. Additionally, they let me wait in the waiting room until the time of my train (it would have been too hot on the platform).

  • Had to change rooms three times. One because it smelled terrible of drains, the second one had a non-working TV, the third one was okay. The showerhead in my daughter's room was so calcified that it was hard to shower. No air conditioning, only fans.

  • The rooms are warmer than 30 degrees Celsius... No air conditioning, no fan. I asked for a fan at the reception, but they told me they didn't have any (there were only three at the reception) and didn't want to give me one. I was advised to stay in another hotel. The rooms were totally dirty; I saw an insect on the floor. They hadn't even swept. Also, the soap and shampoo dispensers in the room were empty. I have stayed at this hotel many times just because it is near the S-Bahn, but I will never stay there again. Despite my complaints about the room temperature, cleanliness, and other shortcomings, the receptionist advised me to find another hotel as this hotel was not good.

complete lack of warmth and basic courtesy shown by the reception staff

  • A hotel I will definitely never stay at again. The reason is very simple, yet it concerns one of the most fundamental principles of the hospitality industry. Even if a guest arrives very early, the very least you can do is greet them with a simple “welcome” as a matter of basic courtesy, before politely explaining that, due to hotel policy, an early check-in is unfortunately not possible. Instead, I was completely ignored while sitting quietly in the lobby, despite making eye contact with the reception staff several times. It was the first time I have ever genuinely felt unwelcome at a hotel. It was only on the second morning that a gentleman—who was not working at reception but was clearly an authorised member of staff—completely changed my impression of what genuine hospitality should look like. When I asked him for a sheet of A4 paper, he kindly provided one and even suggested that I sit at a table in the breakfast room so I could fill it in comfortably. That simple act demonstrated just how little it takes to make a guest feel valued. Unfortunately, the events that took place immediately after my overnight journey are what prompted me to write this review. While I appreciated that gentleman’s kindness, it was overshadowed by the consistently poor attitude of the reception staff. The hotel appeared to operate in an excessively rigid and systematic manner. My keycard had been programmed to stop working the very moment the check-out time passed. Although I returned to my room at exactly 11:03 with my luggage ready to leave, I was unable to re-enter because the keycard had already been deactivated. When I questioned this, I was simply told that “check-out time is 11,” which, given the circumstances, I found both unreasonable and unnecessarily inflexible. Only after I replied, “Then you take my luggage down,” did they reactivate my keycard. I can only assume they decided it was easier to let me retrieve my belongings than to carry them down themselves.
