We would highly recommend a room with a view of the river.
The location was perfect and the view of the river was beautiful. The staff were outstanding & extremely helpful and accommodating.

Excellent staff and breakfast in the most central location
The staff and the breakfast are the two absolute standouts. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone has exactly what they need. I have never encountered better hotel staff or hotel breakfast, so much so that I came back and this was my second stay!

- • The rooms are small and can sometimes be noisy, but it never prohibited us from resting. Just know that you are on a main (and therefore busy) area of Porto.
Great location right in the middle
The staff is extremely friendly and provides guests with valuable information from the beginning!! The breakfast is super good. There are freshly squeezed juices and it is very tasty. The location is fantastic!

- • If you are sensitive to noise, you should book a quieter area. But I got along very well with orophax. It also gets quieter around 11:30 p.m. there.
Lovely, friendly guesthouse in a great location
The personal service I received at this small guest house on the banks of the Douro River was fantastic. My flight was delayed into Porto, but Luis reassured me that he would be there till I checked in. He was friendly, courteous and helpful always. Breakfast was excellent. Because it is a small breakfast room, you need to book in for breakfast at a particular time. You have a platter of fruit for your table, changing daily, watermelon, passionfruit, strawberry, pineapple, etc. with meats and cheeses, the offer of eggs, yoghurt, granola, choice of juices, tea, coffee, hot chocolate – and just when you think you can’t eat anymore – the pastel de nata or pastries come out. The room was comfortable and very clean, and despite being on the street side, I found it to be quiet. Luis is an outstanding asset to this guest house!

- • No access to open the front door – so you always had to rely on someone being there to let you in. Good for security, but not so great if you forget something and can’t get back in. I did discover a doorbell on my last day!

We had a wonderful stay. The room was spotless. The amenities were excellent and the staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Thank you for a memorable stay. We highly recommend Guest House Douro.
