The hotel rooms are great, the pool is great, but the lobby is noisy and chaotic.
1. The room was wonderful for two people. Two beds. Very elegant. Spotless and high end, which I have enjoyed for 50 years. 2. The valet parking was great. Much needed after a very long drive. Also arranging to get the bags and a cooler from the car to the room was done with ease and proficiency. Absolutely wonderful. 3. Pool nice.

- • 1. Check in was painfully slow. It took about half an hour to process 10 people in line. Why? 2. The new layout of the lobby is really a downgrade. I miss the wonderful circular staircase. The basement "A" level is now dingy and full of poor quality shops. Doesn't feel like part of the hotel at all despite the way you get to and from the East wing. I hate that you cannot get to the Lobby level by the East Elevators. 3. We got in around 9pm on a Sunday night and after the 30 minute check in wait were assured that food was available till midnight. The lobby bar area had very loud thunka-thunka music that was annoying after a long drive. We needed peace. Went to the lobby bar and yes they had food, but they had even louder club type music. Was told it was " a vibe". The last time I was there it was quiet and serene. We were directed to the restaurant, which was closed. So we went to the last bar available, which still had bleed in music from the lobby as the wall was a curtain. The food choices were not compatible with my Celiac disease (think sandwiches and apps). I will concede that the margarita was great. I went to bed with no food. There needs to be a quiet place to eat and drink. Not all, just one quiet place to eat and drink. This is the Royal York! What happened?
